Bacterial Reproduction
Introduction Bacteria can reproduce in one of two ways: 1.
Asexually 2.Sexually

2
Asexual Reproduction It is also known as somatic or vegetative reproduction. There are four types of reproduction method:-
1.Binary Fission 2.Budding 3.Fragmentation 4.Spore Formation

3
BINARY FISSION In this single cell divides after devolping a transverse septum. Eg. Bacillus Subtilis

BUDDING:- A process in which small bud develops at one end of the cell, inlarges and inventially develops into a new cell which separate from the spirits. Eg. Rhodopseudomonas acidophilas.
FRAGMENTATION:- Fragmentation of the filament into small bacillary or coccoid cells, each of which give rise to new cells. Each filaments develop other five filaments. Eg. Nocardia.

SPORE
FORMATION:-Asexual spores whose function is to disimate the species are produce in large number. There are many kinds.
SPORANGIOSPORES:- These are the single celled
spores which are form in a SAC called sporangia at the end of special hayphae is called sporangiospores. These are of two types. a} Ablanospores- These are normal type sporangia. b} Zoospores- These are mortile type sporangia.

CONIDIOSPORES:- These are the small single cell spores present at the tip or side of hyphae. ARTHROSPORES:- These are single cell spores which are formed by disting of hyphae cells. CHLONYDOSPORES:-These are the thick wall single cell spores which are highly resistant to adverse conditions . They are formed from the cells of vegetative hyphae. BLASTOSPORES:-These are formed by budding on the side oh hyphae. SBI3U - A.Y. Jackson S.S.

Sexual Reproduction This is carried out by the fusion of compatible nuclei of two parent cells. The various methods of sexual reproduction can be some divides as followed:-
1.GAMETIC COPULLATION- Two gametes of two parent cell fuse together. 2.GAMETE GAMETANGIAL COPULLATION- In this two gametangia come into but do not fuse. 05/05/17
3.GAMETANGIAL COPULLATION- In this two gametangia fuse together. 4.SOMATIC COPULLATION- There is fusion of somatic or vegetative cell. TYPES OF SEXUAL SPORES 1.ASCOSPORES 2.BACIDIOSPORES 3.ZYGOSPORES 4.OOSPORES 05/05/17
