ASEAN Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) The ASEAN Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) is a network of premier Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) of the countries in the ASEAN. Its goal is to address issues, challenges, and concerns relevant to Teacher Education programs, practices and policies in the ASEAN Region. It also serves as a vehicle for collaboration in both academic and research endeavors within and across member institutions that will ultimately benefit the ASEAN nations and peoples. As a member of AsTEN, the TEI must qualify to certain criteria, as follow: 1) that the TEI is a leading institution/university in Teacher Education in the ASEAN member country; 2) that the TEI made significant contributions to Education/Teacher Education in the area of Curriculum, Research and Instruction; 3) that the TEI offers advanced degrees in Education and related disciplines preferably on various specializations; and, 4) that the TEI has international linkages and partnership with institutions especially in the ASEAN Region. AsTEN envisions to prepare and to adapt to the changes and challenges brought about by the ASEAN integration focusing on Teacher Education.

It is AsTEN’s aim to become ASEAN-accredited to keep pace with the ongoing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) integration. The need to prepare professionally and be globally competitive by consistently addressing challenges relevant to Teacher Education programs through collaborations with other institutions in the region is one among the many positive actions toward transformation that AsTEN desires to achieve since its inception. In the past two years, AsTEN has already accomplished so many through its relevant projects, researches, conferences, and roundtable discussions. As a matter of fact, the Philippine Normal University, as the Lead Shepherd of AsTEN, recently held a roundtable discussion for the establishment of the Philippine Teacher Education Network (PhilTEN).
AsTEN Student Teaching Exchange Program (AsTEN STEP) AsTEN STEP is an international practice teaching program participated by AsTEN member institutions on August 22 - September 22, 2016. The student teachers from the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Malaysia) and Yangon University of Education (Myanmar) were deployed in the Philippines for their teaching practice.
