Rose -Taruni Latin Name - Rosaceae  Flower - There are more than 5000 varieties of roses, give fragrance & useful for perfumeries. Rose play an amportant role in economic, social, spiritual lives of people in India, They are used for pooja, creation of garlands, gulkand, atta, rose water & Oil.  Essential Oil is extracted by hydrodistillation or steam distilation of rose petels.  Rose oil Antidepressant, Anti spasmodic & anti bacterial, anti viral remove stress.  Gulkand - ROse Petal Confention  One of the most delicious Ayurvedic preparations used as cooling Tonic to combat fatique, heat related conditions, high pitta, Pre & menopalsal like Hot fueshes.  A Reciepe for Gulkand.  Ingredients -125 gms of Rose petals, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup lemmon juice, pectin 1/2 tsp.  wash & rinse the petals. Drain out excess water. Put everythind in pan, heat till sugar dissolves. Stirring continuously. Once boiling stat simmer coverd for 30 minutes. 

Champak  Latin Name  Flower - Tree grows to 100 feet in pyramidal

shape. When it blooms, it is covered with thousand of golden blossoms. This is considered sacred so always planted near the temple.  Medical Uses- Infusion & decoction of flower is used for dyspesia, nausea, fever, STDS. Flower oil is useful for massage in rheumatism.  Kalpa  Bakul champakavaleh - Useful for upper Respiratory.

Jasmine  An evergreen climber 10 - 12 m. high ,

delicate white green leaves & flagrant star shaped white flower.  Flower - Cooling, pacify pitta & vata  Jasmine oil- nourishiing to tissues & strengthening to nervous sys.  Jatyadi Gruta Useful for mouth uclers exxcellent for high pitta. (Combination of flower & leaves)  Burning Sensation - Flower oil is useful.

Lotus  Latin Name - sacred flower  Flower - Pink, white, blue  use for Pooja - Ganesha, Laxmi, Brahma  Medical Uses- The honey from bees which

visit lotus flowers is reported to have tonic properties.  Intubation- stem of the flower, hollow tube is used for feeding.

Flower - are bright red colors.  Taste - Astrongent, bitter & pungent.  Medical Uses- 1 Intestinal worms - 3 gms of powder of flowe on empty stomach with water for 3 days.  2 Diarrhoea - 2 tsp. flower powder with honey & one cup of buttermilk 2 times a day.  3 Bleeding piles - 1 tsp. powder of flower with honey for 1 weeak  Flowers are useful to make medicinal wines like draksharishta, asokarishta.  4 Decoction of flower is very effective on liver disorders.  5 Dry flowers are used for fermentation known as "Asu- Tatva" thats why Dry flowers are useful for preparation of herbal wines known as Asav & Arishta. 

Haladi Kumkum  Latin Name - Asclepias curassavica  Flower - Yello & red color  Medical Uses- Flower decoction It is liver

stimulant & febrifuge.  Decoction is also useful for bleeding due to wounds it also help to the swelling.

Agastya  Latin Name – Sesbania Gradifolia  Flower – are edible and used in salads and

make vegitable.  Medical Uses- Very rich in calcium. Root and bark used as bitter tonic. Fruit is good for memory.
