1. Prepare stranded wire #14 as our main wire. Unskinned the wire for about 5 inches and clean leaving 1 inch on both ends of the wire with insulation. 2. Prepare a wire #14 as our tap wire and unskinned for about 6 inches from one end and cleaned. 3. The strands of the main wire is divided in half by forcing the screw driver through the center of the bared portion of the main wire.

Split cable tap is used where stranded cables are tapped through a conductor. This tapped is stronger than ordinary cable tap.
