How to Reset a Lexmark E332n to the DH

Instructions

1 Click the Windows "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen, then select "Devices and Printers."

2 Right-click the "Lexmark E332n" icon, then click the "Remove Device" option in the menu.

3 Turn off the printer using the power button on the back of the printer.

4 Open the front cover by pulling down from the top left corner of the front face plate.

5 Press and hold both of the buttons (Continue and Cancel) on the front right side of the printer.

6 Turn on the printer using the power button on the back of the printer, while continuing to hold the front two buttons.

7 Release the front two buttons when the lights on the front of the printer (under the front two buttons that you are holding) have stopped flashing and only the top and bottom lights are illuminated.

8 Close the front cover.

9 Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen, then select "Devices and Printers."

10 Select the "Add A Printer" option at the top of the window, then follow the prompts to install your Lexmark E332n with the default settings, including DH.

1.First enter configuration mode on the printer. Refer to this article for directions. 2.Then do the following: 1.Press the CANCEL button once to turn on the CONTINUE button light. 2.Press and hold the CONTINUE button until all the lights cycle to perform the NVRAM reset. 3.Press and hold the CANCEL button until all the lights cycle to return to the Home Menu. 4.Turn the printer off to exit configuration mode. 3.If the printer is not correctly reset, print the instruction page from the Configuration Menu (step 9 of the article linked to in step 1) as the light sequence may be different.

Solution Whenever you replace the photoconductor unit, you will also need to reset its page count. Failure to do this will cause the printer to display, or continue to display, a Replace Photoconductor Kit message and possibly stop printing. IMPORTANT! The photoconductor page count should be reset only when a brand-new photoconductor kit is installed. Resetting the page count without replacing the photoconductor kit could cause the photoconductor to operate beyond its intended life and thus create print quality issues. 1.Power the printer on and get it to the Ready state (i.e. the light on the operator is on, as shown below).

2.With the printer on and in the Ready state, open the front cover, as shown.

3.Press and hold the Cancel () button until all of the lights begin flashing up and down. 4.Release the Cancel button and close the door. The photoconductor count should now be reset. 5.To confirm that the photoconductor page count has been reset, it is recommended that you print a menu settings page and check the photoconductor level. Do the following:

1.With the printer at the Ready status, press the Continue () button once. The Ready () light will begin flashing and one or two pages will print out.

2.Look for a section labeled Cartridge Information and locate the word Photoconductor under this heading. 3.Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is either OK or close to 100%.

4.If the reading is low, try printing 10 - 20 pages. 5.Print the menu settings page(s) again. 6.Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is OK or close to 100%. 7.If the photoconductor reading is still low, there is a second, more detailed, procedure you can perform to reset the count.
