Purpose This instruction is used for guiding service staff to upgrade firmware of handset with Micro SD card.

Scope of application This instruction is apply to Y520U handset, and used for the service staff and related persons to upgrade handset software version.

Firmware Upgrade 4.1 Copy upgrading firmware file Copy the upgrading firmware “update.zip” file into SD card’s root directory, this firmware file should be ed from HW official website, if not, please visit HW website to the latest version of Y520U(please make sure the file name is “update.zip”, otherwise, please modify the name) ,the following picture is for your reference. Notice: In case the “update.zip” file is not from HW official website, probably the firmware upgrading will fail and result in handset power on failure.

4.2 Power on upgrade---back up upgrade Select “Settings storage software upgrade SD card upgrade” as following picture

Select “confirm” to enter SD upgrade interface, then click “upgrade” ,handset will power off automatically to start upgrading process.

The whole upgrading procedure will take around 2 minutes, please ensure battery power is enough and without any operation during software upgrading. mobile phone will restart automatically after upgrading procedure finished 30s. Remark: after software upgraded, please enter setting interface to check the software version is correct.

4.3 combination keys upgrading at power off status--backup upgrade

1.Copy the upgrading firmware file into SD card’s root directory, keep pressing “power” key and volume “up” key as mobile phone power off until below interface appearing.

2. Select “recovery mode” with volume up key , confirm it with volume down key, then enter the recovery mode.

3. Click Menu key and enter the below interface:

Select “apply update from sdcard” with volume key, confirm it with Home key, then enter the SD card upgrading interface: Remark: if you can’t find the “update.zip” file in the list, please select” reboot system now” with volume keyclick Home key to confirm ,then restart device, and copy the “update.zip” file into SD card root directory.

5. Select “update.zip” with volume down key, then click Home key to confirm, mobile phone will start the firmware updating procedure, the below picture is for your reference:

6. The “Install from sdcard complete” prompt will appear and handset will restart automatically after software updating finished.

Remark: after software upgraded, please enter setting interface to check the software version is correct.

Notice 1. Don’t take out SD card and battery during software upgrading.( please ensure battery power is enough) 2. This firmware update method is not allowed to upgrade firmware between different customized version, not allowed to upgrade firmware from high version to lower version, not allowed to upgrade firmware between non-consecutive version.
