Meditation on the Chakra Petal Bijas
Priv ate Instruction Sitting Posture Pranay am a
Creation occurred due to the first sound Aum . The univ erse and
Praty ahara
ev ery thing in it is condensed energy , that energy is v ibrating and all has sound. The body itself is sound, called sabda in Sanskrit. The body
Guru Tattv a
can be recreated with sound as m any m odern technologies are now tapping into. In the ancient Puranas (sacred story texts), Third Ey e Chakra Petal Sounds Im portance of 1 08
there are elaborate stories of the creation of the world, this is called Shristi Karana. Meditating on the bijas (seed sounds) of the chakra petals is also called Shristi Karana, for it is the recreation of the body through sabda (sound). (1 ) First step is to worship the Guru and Param guru. Those who don’t hav e one can do the m antra “Aum Vy am Vy asadev ay a Nam ah” [1 ] 1 08 tim es while m editating on the crown, im agining golden radiant light com ing into the crown
Nam ah Shiv ay a Mantra
and light sitting on the head. The Guru’s grace rests on the head. (2 ) Next pranay am a can be done. (3 ) Meditate on the third ey e chakra, bringing the awareness there. (4 ) If one knows the Agni nav akshari m antra it can be done 2 1 tim es (5) followed by the Chaitany a m antra. (6 ) Then one can do their param para m antra [2 ] to stabilize the fiv e aspects of the m ind and m ake it peaceful. (7 ) When the m ind has becom e stable and peaceful one begins with the throat chakra. It contains 1 6 petals with the v owels of the Sanskrit alphabet. A knowledge of Sanskrit alphabet and its pronunciation is v ery helpful. aM, äM, iM, éM, uM, üM, åM èM låM lèM eM aiM oM auM aM aùM Som e traditions use “Aum (the akshara + M) nam ah”. So it would go “Aum aM Nam ah”, “Aum aaM Nam ah”, etc.
(8) Next the petals of the heart chakra are visualized with the first twelve consonants of the Sanskrit alphabet. kaM, khaM, gaM, ghaM, ìaM, caM, chaM, jaM, jhaM, ïaM, öaM, öhaM

(9) Then the petals of the navel chakra are visualized with the next 10 letters. òaM, òhaM, ëaM, taM, thaM, daM, dhaM, naM, paM, phaM
(10) The Svadhisthana (2nd chakra) has 6 petals. baM, bhaM, maM, yaM, raM, laM
(11) The root chakra has four petals and is often visualized as parrallel to the ground. vaM, çaM, ñaM, saM Next the Kundalini is raised from the root to the top to create the two petals of the third ey e. Sri Achy uta Das teaches that each chakra has a different shakti, and we go through and pray to each. In South India there is Tirupati, the place of the 7 hills, which are considered a pilgrim age place. These 7 hills reside within the body , and all the gods reside within the body . The root chakra is the abode of Ganesh with his wiv es Vriddhi and Siddhi. He (the son) is alway s worshipped before seeking the Mother (Kundalini), he is the gaurdian of the doorway and prepares the Kundalini for rising. (1 2 ) Ganesh is worshipped with v arious m antras like “Aum GaM Ganapatay e Nam ah” or “Siddhi Rastu”. (1 3 ) The ‘m ountain’ is clim bed by cleaning the bhutas (elem ents). The prithv i (earth) bija m antra is used at this point. ‘LaM’ purifies the earth elem ent and gets us ready to m ov e to the 2 nd chakra. Bhuta shuddhi (purification of the elem ent) is reccom ended to do between chakras not in the chakra itself. Earth rules the space between the root and 2 nd chakra, water rules the space between the 2 nd and third chakra, etc.
(1 4 ) In the second chakra Kam adev and Rati are worshipped, (1 5) then ‘v aM’ bija is done ascending to the next chakra. (1 6 ) Brahm a and Saraswati are worshipped in the nabhi chakra, (1 7 ) then ‘raM’ bija is used for agni bhuta shuddhi (purification

Chakra Petal Sounds – Freedom Vidya Brahm a and Saraswati are worshipped in the nabhi chakra, (1 7 ) then ‘raM’ bija is used for agni bhuta shuddhi (purification of the fire elem ent). In the heart lotus dwells the Ishta Dev ata, the personal form of the liberating deity . This is often one of the av atars of Visnu, (according to the 1 2 th house from Karakam sa). (1 8) One is to dwell in the heart lotus, where one can realize them self. (1 9 ) Mantra of the Ishta dev ata is to be done in Gy atri, or a m ala m antra, but nothing shorter than a dwadaksari m antra [3 ]. The bija of the Ishta can be established in the heart, in this way it wil alway s protect the practitioner. Then take perm ission to v isit the Guru, “send m e to the Guru so that I m ay hav e y our gati”. (2 0) Then rise to the throat chakra with ‘y aM’ bija purify ing the air elem ent. The 5 th chakra is the residence of Shiv a and Parv ati. Gati, direction, is in the feet of Shiv a and Parv ati. It is the Mother that giv es gati, our direction in life. (2 1 ) Do the coreect m antras to them and y ou will speak the truth. Patanjali say s those who alway s speak the truth, ev ery thing they say com es true. (2 2 ) Rise to the ajna chakra with the akash bija ‘haM’. (2 3 ) Worship or m editate upon Agni, the god of fire (one can use raM bija if they don’t know any thing else). This purifies y ou of all sins and prepares y ou to be with th eIshta Dev ata. (2 3 ) Meditate with the third ey e petals ‘haM’ and ‘ksaM’. (2 4 ) Rise up to the crown to v isit the param guru/Sadashiv a. The body should becom e cool and calm . Depending on one’s param para (tradition of y oga), reside in at the crown or return to the heart lotus and reside with the Ishta Dev ata. The Ishta is now bey ond form , nirankara. Form was created by May a (illusion), but is rem ov ed after the blessing of the Guru.
[1 ] Vy asadev a (also called Vedav y asa) is the com piler of the Vedas. He is an archety pal param guru who represents the com piling, harnessing, and application of knowledge. Inv oking him is inv oking guru’s grace, which is the asking for y ourself to be in harm ony with the univ erse so y ou can open to univ ersal truth. One can also inv oke their personal param guru of their lineage, or use a traditional Shiv a m antra. [2 ] Param para m antra is the traditional m antra that is used in one’s lineage. One can also use a diksa (initiation) m antra if they don’t hav e a lineage. Or one can use traditional m antras like ‘Aum Nam ah Siv ay a’ or ‘Hare Ram a Krsna’ etc. [3 ] Dwadakshari m antras are m antras that hav e 1 2 sy llables. Ishta m antras often hav e 1 2 sy llables, as Rshi Parashara said in the Visnu Purana that those who do the 1 2 sy llable m antra of Vasudev nev er return (and he was the m ost fam ous astrologer, one who would hav e such knowledge). The Ishta is also seen in the 1 2 th house from karakam sa so it is activ ated by 1 2 sy llable m antras. The Ishta Dev ata is rev ealed to one after m uch tapas has been done and is the guiding light, protecting deity , liberating energy of the soul.

Robert Svoboda, Aghora II p152Speech is simply the verbal expression of Kundalini. This is why the lotuses of the chakras have Bija Mantras for petals, and why mantras are so important for awakening Kundalini.
Hatha Yoga Pradipika In the middle of the eyebrows is the place of Siva, there the mind is quiescent. That state is known as turiya or the fourth dimension. There, time is unknown. IV.48

The praëava mantra is held identical with the supreme Brahma and a repetition of such a mantra is sure to expiate a man of all sins. A man living on haviñya diet each day repeating the mantra a hundred thousand times, is sure to attain salvation. A man standing in waist deep water and repeating the praëava mantra a hundred times, should drink draughts of consecrated water, whereby he would be purged off of all ‘impieties’. -Dutt, M.N. trans, Agni Purana, chapter 259
