Introduction

Introduction
Since the release of TRAKTOR 2.6.2, the ability to map numerous functions of the Remix Decks has been added to the Controller Manager. Using any MIDI-compatible controller, you can now trigger any of the 64 Sample Cells within a Remix Deck, load/capture/delete samples, and scroll through pages in the Remix Decks. With these new abilities, we've created a set of templates and mappings which allow for basic Remix Deck control from the MASCHINE family of controllers. As with KONTROL F1, you will have direct access to the full grid of samples using these mappings with your MASCHINE. Due to the limitations of MIDI and the complexity of the full Remix Deck, the MASCHINE control mappings are still not as extensive and integrated as the KONTROL F1 and this can mainly be seen in how visual differs between the two systems. While the F1 can show animations and a wide variety of colors to assist you during use, the MASCHINE mappings only show basic on/off states for parameters. For example, the colors of samples in the Remix Deck will not be mirrored on the MASCHINE hardware, but you will be able to see which cells are empty and which contain samples. The MASCHINE mappings do, however, include some features which are not available on F1. From the MASCHINE hardware, you will be able to control TRAKTOR's Loop Recorder in order to capture new samples on-the-fly and then copy them into cells of the Remix Decks. You also have transport controls such as Play and Auto Loop. And being that all of these functions are mapped via MIDI, you can change any of the behaviors in TRAKTOR's Controller Manager, and you can also change the preassigned colors for the MASCHINE pads in the Controller Editor.

Installation
In order to make use of these mappings, two components are required: A Controller Editor template for your MASCHINE controller and a corresponding TSI file for TRAKTOR. Templates and TSIs are available for the following four controllers in the MASCHINE family: ▪ MASCHINE MK1 ▪ MASCHINE MIKRO MK1 ▪ MASCHINE MK2 ▪ MASCHINE MIKRO MK2

Selecting a Remix Deck Layout for the MASCHINE Controller
Before you can add the Remix Deck Layout to your MASCHINE controller, you must connect your MASCHINE controller to your computer and launch the Controller Editor (this program was installed as part of your MASCHINE and TRAKTOR installations). On the right side of the Controller Editor screen is a list of the Templates that are stored in your Controller Editor. To select the new Remix Deck mapping template:

Connect your MASCHINE controller and open up Controller Editor.

Click Factory Templates on the right side of the screen and select Maschine Remix Decks from the drop-down menu.
The selected template appears at the bottom of the template list.

Click the template to activate it in your MASCHINE.

Close Controller Editor.

Importing the TSI File into TRAKTOR
To finish setup, you must import the appropriate TSI file into TRAKTOR: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Launch TRAKTOR. In the top-right corner of TRAKTOR, click on the Preferences icon to open the Preferences dialog. Click on the Controller Manager tab. Click the Add… button to open the drop-down menu.

Go to Import TSI at the bottom of the list to open a submenu. Select Native Instruments from the submenu and then click the entry in the appearing sub-submenu that corresponds to your MASCHINE controller.

Ensure that the In-Port and Out-Port menus are both set to Maschine. Do not use All Ports.

Close the Preferences dialog.

Due to the limitations of MIDI and the complexity of the full Remix Deck, the MASCHINE control mappings are still not as extensive and integrated as the KONTROL F1 and this can mainly be seen in how visual differs between the two systems. While the F1 can show animations and a wide variety of colors to assist you during use, the MASCHINE mappings only show basic on/off states for parameters. For example, the colors of samples in the Remix Deck will not be mirrored on the MASCHINE hardware, but you will be able to see which cells are empty and which contain samples. The MASCHINE mappings do, however, include some features which are not available on F1. From the MASCHINE hardware, you will be able to control TRAKTOR's Loop Recorder in order to capture new samples on-the-fly and then copy them into cells of the Remix Decks. You also have transport controls such as Play and Auto Loop. And being that all of these functions are mapped via MIDI, you can change any of the behaviors in TRAKTOR's Controller Manager, and you can also change the preassigned colors for the MASCHINE pads in the Controller Editor.

Installation
In order to make use of these mappings, two components are required: A Controller Editor template for your MASCHINE controller and a corresponding TSI file for TRAKTOR. Templates and TSIs are available for the following four controllers in the MASCHINE family: ▪ MASCHINE MK1 ▪ MASCHINE MIKRO MK1 ▪ MASCHINE MK2 ▪ MASCHINE MIKRO MK2

Selecting a Remix Deck Layout for the MASCHINE Controller
Before you can add the Remix Deck Layout to your MASCHINE controller, you must connect your MASCHINE controller to your computer and launch the Controller Editor (this program was installed as part of your MASCHINE and TRAKTOR installations). On the right side of the Controller Editor screen is a list of the Templates that are stored in your Controller Editor. To select the new Remix Deck mapping template:

Connect your MASCHINE controller and open up Controller Editor.

Click Factory Templates on the right side of the screen and select Maschine Remix Decks from the drop-down menu.
The selected template appears at the bottom of the template list.

Click the template to activate it in your MASCHINE.

Importing the TSI File into TRAKTOR
To finish setup, you must import the appropriate TSI file into TRAKTOR: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Launch TRAKTOR. In the top-right corner of TRAKTOR, click on the Preferences icon to open the Preferences dialog. Click on the Controller Manager tab. Click the Add… button to open the drop-down menu.

Go to Import TSI at the bottom of the list to open a submenu. Select Native Instruments from the submenu and then click the entry in the appearing sub-submenu that corresponds to your MASCHINE controller.

Ensure that the In-Port and Out-Port menus are both set to Maschine. Do not use All Ports.
