Maui dining 101: the rule of thumb is that the shadier and more po-dunk looking the restaurant is, the more amazing the food is. Maui dining is a no-frills, usually little to no ambiance (unless it's kitschy and bizarre) eating affair that is all about fresh fish and ingredients and hearty home cooking. Asian-hawaiian cuisine is huge and always start off with PuPus, or tapas appetizers. TONE NAME LOCATION TOWN WHAT TO GET Their sticky buns and cinnamin buns are out of this world! Everything from the breakfast burrito to Loco Moco is amazing with ginormous portions, perfect for Casual Dining Kihei Cafe 1945 S Kihei Rd Kihei splitting. Take a seat outdoors and people watch while you wait for Kihei's best breakfast/brunch spot from Mama Bunny Their lunch menu is a great value for fresh and innovative hawaiian inspired 2439 S Kihei Rd # cuisine. One of the few places in Kihei with a somewhat sophisticated ambiance, Casual Dining Cafe O Lei Kihei 201A the natural lighting, spralling windows and cool woodwork makes for a nice break from the taco shacks The only fresh fish supplier on the southside also boasts this small restaurant. I recommend the crab cakes and coconut shrimp. This is a local's favorite, and Casual Dining Eskimo Candy 2665 Wai Wai Pl Kihei while the Pupus are worth the deep fried goodness, the entrees are less noteworthy. GET THESE FISH TACOS. I'm on a life-long search for the perfect fish taco, and TC's rank highly on my list. Get the fish tacos grilled. Most Kt116 menu items are hawaiin fusion. I recommend the seared ahi panko roll appetizer and Rock shrimp. For a special occassion night with one of the most gorgeous settings to watch the 3900 Wailea sun go down, Spago's at the Four Seasons is a tasteful fine dining locale where Fine Dining Spago's Wailea Alanui Drive you pay a pretty penny for the atmosphere. Nice flavors and fresh fish. While it's definitely worth the 2 for 1 early bird entree special, I would not pay full price ($30/entree) for the lack of ambiance and somewhat apathetic service. This is the local's favorite, authentic homestyle hawaiian grub. From Loco mocos, to other kins of bbq and teriyaki chicken, I've only heard raves about the flavorful comfort food and huge portions for $8 Best natural food market in Paia, and Maui Reasonably priced natural food market in Kihei This kozy shack with loads of kona coffee to bring home used to be bad ass, but nevertheless, grabbing a cup of joe and sitting outside is just as relaxing. 2 for 1 coffees from 6-9am. The Kona Coffee ice cream and macadamia ice cream are favorites and scones are the size of my head. A fine dining favorite on the island, Mama's boasts some of the most gorgeous views of Maui. Be sure to go BEFORE it's dark for a photo op. While most people I went with did not feel that $50 was warranted for the quality of the food, I enjoyed the Macadamia encrusted fish and lobster guacamole. Holy Moly! A baker's delight. You must get the Manju and Hawaiian sweet bread here. I love their peanut butter Manjui but the red bean or taro is good too. They also have Spanish baked delights Although I haven't tried this sushi restaurant, our snorkeling diving spider monkey tour guide highly recommended it Casual and laid back, Gaby's has yummy pizza and buttery garlic bread. It's a great place to play pool, grab a pie if you're fished-out, and go out in Lahaina. Other restaurants at 505 Front Street are more upscale with views of the ocean.
