Introduction The kishore vaigyanik protsahan yojana is a programme initiated by the Government of India to encourage students of the Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up careers in research in these fields. Kishore vaigyanik protsahan yojana aims to identify and select students who demonstrate talent and aptitude, and encourage and assist them in pursuing research careers in their chosen fields.

A generous scholarship will be provided (up to the Pre-Phd level) to the selected students. In addition, summer programmes in prestigious research and education institutions in the country will be organized, and preferential access to facilities such as libraries, laboratories, museums, etc. will be provided. It not only to assist the students to realize their potential, but also to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development establishments in the country

The Department of Science and Technology, the nodal agency of the Government has entrusted the overall responsibility for organizing and running the KVPY Program to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and set up a National Advisory Committee (NAC) for overseeing its implementation. A Core Committee looks after both the day-to-day and academic aspects of the KVPY Program.

Integrated Science Olympiad Programme • A National Science Olympiad Programme covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology is operational in the country with the active of Department of Science & Technology, Department of Atomic Energy and Ministry of Human Resource Development. • The programme aims at promoting excellence in science among pre-university students and selecting teams to represent India at the respective International Olympiads.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana scholarship • After class X: Monthly grant : Rs 4000 & annual contingency grant : Rs 16000 • During 1st to 3rd year of B.Sc /B.S/ Integrated M.Sc / M.S : Monthly grant : Rs 5000 & annual contingency grant : Rs 20000

Selection Procedure •
Depending on the show in the aptitude examination, shortlisted scholars are called for a question that is the final phase of the assortment process.

For getting a fellowship, aptitude examination & interview both are necessary.

Liberal scholarships are given till pre-Ph.D. stage to the chosen students.

Exams under (KVPY) Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination. Students promoted through both the Summative Assessments-II conducted by the school and conducted by the Board are eligible to EQuality apply, if they satisfy the eligibilitySystem criteria. Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year and aspiring to an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) provided they have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc./M.S. during the academic year 2012–13 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. • A number of additional fellowships (up to 100) exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams stated above will be operated. A special orientation program for the selected SC/ST students will be organized.

Stream SP (Medicine): • Students enrolled in I/II professional year of the MBBS/BDS/BVSc/B.Pharma program during the academic year and have secured 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. • Students enrolled in the II professional year of the MBBS/BDS/BVSc/B.Pharma program must have secured 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. • A hard copy of an original and creative Bio-Medical project must be submitted along with the application.
