Preface Bachelor of Business istration (BBA) is a professional program meant not only to give theoretical knowledge but also the exposure to practical studies to students in order to make them aware of how the stuff works in reality. This way BBA is different from other programs. As we know that only theoretical knowledge is not sufficient to impart complete studies. As a part of our practical studies we went to Divya Bhaskar Co. Ltd. A public company as the name suggests that it is engaged in printing the newspapers among one of the largest printing media such as Sandesh, Gujarat Samachar, Times of India etc. it’s fairly big organization in printing media group which perfectly suited for getting the knowledge required. Through the visit we got to learn many things. We observed that whatever we learn in theories about the organizational structure, the plant and machine layout and other likewise elements, how they are applied in practical.

Hemalata Agarwal, who is a daughter of the late Dwarka Prasad, and also a partner in the firm, expressed satisfaction over the judgment at a press conference inNew Delhi last week, and said: "I hope that the judgment of the Supreme Court will beduly implemented in letter and spirit and soon the Registrar of Newspapers in India andthe concerned District Magistrate will take suitable and prompt action in the matter."

Dainik Bhaskar was established by DwarkaPrasad Agarwal in 1958 but it was taken over by his son Ramesh Chandra Agarwal and his uncle Bishambar Dayal Agarwal in 1992 using "fraudulent means" and without the consent of the actual owner, Dwarka Prasad. Following this Dainik Bhaskar was transferred to writers and publishers Ltd, company owned by Ramesh Agarwal. The Supreme Court has now restored the ownership to M/s Dwarka Prasad Agarwaland Bros. before 50 years ago, Bhaskar group established in the firm of one newspaper. Now doing 900cores Rs of turnover this group is highlight in 80 decades. 6.3 Plant and Technology Divya Bhaskar has developed a world class, state of art with most advanced technology, printing infrastructure, where it is not only near the reader but is touching the reader. They have almost 80% color Capability on over all bases with almost 20 editions are 100% color Capacity. They have got 47 Printing centers with 65 state of the art machines and an installed capacity of approx. 23.63 lacks copies per hour on overall basis.

 Bhaskar Print Planet at Ahmedabad In the history of Gujarat newspapers Divya Bhaskar is the first newspaper who has installed state of the art, 3 Line KBA machine which can print 2.25 lac copies in an hour. It took only one year in erecting Bhaskar Print Planet in Ahmedabad and just four months in installing KBA machines. Normally, use of KBA machines was limited to English newspapers till now, but by establishing a benchmark in the Gujarati journalistic world, now, Divya Bhaskar would be printed on KBA machines. All the new machines and those being installed in future will be known under the title of ‘Bhaskar Print Planet”. The KBA machines of its kind have already been installed at Dainik Bhaskar, Jaipur and now it is all set to become the property of Divya Bhaskar Ahmedabad. The KBA machine is double-width machine capable of printing 32 columns in one go and hence can print even a double-width gatefold. These sophisticated machines allow printing and packaging of programmed number of copies, delivering them in precisely counted neatly packed newspaper sets for immediate dispatch, which, in turn, negates the need for manual counting and packing. This saving of manual time and the KBA machines capability of printing 85,000 copies per hour (which is almost 60 per cent more than regular machines) allow for late closure of edit content, resulting in readers getting the latest news.

6.4 Plant Layout

6.5 Measures to control Pollution  Distance from city therefore no noise pollution in city area.  The wastage of paper is sent to recycle in some organization.  No use of harmful chemicals.  Modern machine for proper utilization of electricity.  Plantation of trees and garden outside the factory.

6.6 Area of Factory The total area covered by Bhaskar Print Planet is approximately 10,000 sq. meters. Moreover the location is maintained by allocation of sufficient area for the garden and trees, which enhances the view of the factory.

The Dainik Bhaskar group is the largest media group of India. The Divya Bhaskar newspaper which is a regional newspaper distributed among the Gujarat has become a prime newspaper of the state. It is the most successful and liked newspaper in Gujarat. Right now Divya Bhaskar is number one in the market of Guajarati newspaper.As per Indian Readership Survey 2011 Q2, the five most read Gujarati dailies are Divya Bhaskar, Gujarat Samachar, Sandesh, Saurashtra Samachar and Gujarat Mitra.

However Divya Bhaskar has outnumbered readers of both the newspapers and is having more number of readers than any other newspaper in Gujarat.

 Number of workers:  In the Divya Bhaskar Print Planet Ahmedabad there are 150 employees. And the salariesof the employees are based on their works and positions.  The workers operating the KBA machines are trained by the engineers from the KBA organizations from about operation, control and maintenance of the specific functions of the machine.

 There are some of the guidelines, which are observed while recruiting any new candidate at Divya Bhaskar Group. They are: Each unit/location has a manpower plan and the proposed organization Structure at the beginning of the Financial Year.  Each department has a clear requirement of employees along with proposed Designations & Grades for each individual.  The requirement is then submitted for approval from MD/Directors.  Each appointment is made keeping in mind the sanctioned limit of the Manpower budget

9.2 Training and Development

 Typically, induction training conveys General information about the daily work routine; a review offirm’s history, founding fathers, objectives, operations and products or services, as well as how the employee’s job contributes to the organization’s needs; and a detailed presentation, perhaps, in a brochure, of the organization’s policies, work rules and employee’s benefits. The broad aim of the induction process is to provide information to new of your Faculty or Service to enable them to carry out their required Role and responsibilities to a high and consistent standard. Another component of a Training and Development program is Development, which is less skill-oriented but stress on knowledge. Knowledge about business environment, management principles and techniques, human relations, specific industry analysis and the like is useful for better management of a company. 9.3 Facilities for the staff  Housing Assistance All M grades Employees are covered under this policy, what does it covers: This policy extends assistance for home search in the form of agent/broker .The company will also reimburse paid (one time in each location),on providing the necessary documents. The amount will be to a maximum of 15 days to 1 month, depending on location.

 Salary Advance There are two types Salary advances in the organization:

Normal Advance Advance of up to 2 months’ salary (Basic only) is extended based on the employee’s personal requirement. In case of medical exigency this limit is raised to 3 months of basic pay.

Specific Advance The advance can be availed for the specific purposes which are listed below along with issibility and deductible installments. Purpose Limit of advance (Basic Maximum No. ofSalary) Installments marriage of self, sister or children 3 months, marriage of any member/celebration within the family 2 months others (Medical exigency) 3 months.

 Medical Facilities The Company provides med claim facility to all its M Grade & E Grade Employees whose CTC is above Rs. 15000/-. Med claim Policy covers the employee, his/her spouse and up to 2 unmarried dependent children. In case, if the employees are not married both the parents can be included in the policy. In this policy, any one member in the family is covered up to the insured amount for any illness leading to hospitalization.

 Employee Contingency Fund The main objective of ECF is to provide financial to the family on the death of 'working employee' and to provide financial assistance in case of sustained or extended illness of the working employee or dependent member of his 'immediate family'.

9.4 performance evaluation, promotion: Generally, firms with formal induction programs ask employees to complete a questionnaire evaluating the program. It is desirable that the questionnaire is ister after some length of time, in order to Enable the employee to gain some prospective about the work and the company. Along with this, the main purpose of newspaper is to know the issues related to human life, which includes the routine life problems of people and what are the sources to decrease those problems, means how the problems could be sorted out.

 SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMM BY BHASKAR GROUP Bhaskar Group of Company have been started a wonderful job, as social awareness program, called “RUBRU” in all the cities of Gujarat, where Divya Bhaskar publishes its newspaper. RUBRU is a program, wherea common man can raise his voice towards the problems he is facing on. Generally, issues related to water supply, road-repairing, damage water lines, night crimes, damage drainage lines, dung heap etc. are told to get its better solution.
