Acknowledgement
I would like to thank each and every one for all their , guidance and inspiration. First of all let me thank my mom for believing in me, dreaming high about me, finding the hidden potentials in me, pushing me to chase my dreams. I would like to thank my dad for extending his to me . I would not be able to move further without mentioning my brother. He is 18 year old and he is the greatest hero I have ever seen. He encourages me by sharing my poems on social media like Facebook, Instagram and on his blogs. My family is very important to me and without them this would not have happened.
I would like to tribute to my language teachers in my school. Special thanks to Ma’am Huma Adnan who taught me various poetic patterns and guided me and encouraged me to write 40 poems within a short period during my summer holidays.
Introduction
This is my first collection of poems and a short story. In summer 2016, I attended a short course for poetry and short story. During the session, we were taught different patterns of poems and how to build a short story step-by-step. This book is a final product of what was created by the end of the course. There are different elements which inspired me to create these poems. For instance, A Horror Car’s idea came to my mind while going home I saw a car parked on the road-side and there was a lady who was worriedly waiting outside. I wondered what if she sees a ghost.
The Talking Garbage Can’s idea came to my mind the day I had a coca-cola can and I forgot to throw it. I think my love for Geronimo Stilton also influenced me to write about a can which could talk.
To My Mom,
a light who shows me how to shine.
Math
In math there is addition
And also subtraction.
Math is hard,
But it makes you smart.
For some it is easy,
And so they feel crazy.
Television
Television gives entertainment.
It calms down
angry bodies.
It is enjoyable.
A Horror Car
A car on the road.
a ghost outside.
A girl hears a sound –
Ha ha,
He he,
Ho ho –
And knocks on the window.
and goes and knocks
on the other side.
Girl screams
and runs away.
She dies of a
scare.
Life Cycle
Baby grows into a man.
Man grows into an old man.
Wrinkles on his face,
and a stick in his hand,
He dies and become superman.
Thanksgiving
Though art Lord,
I thank thee for my
house and help and life and
also for all my friends,
near and kilometers away.
Know that I am thanking you for
stuff in my stomach and
great shoes on my feet.
I love flowers with
vibrant rainbow colors.
I am thankful for living in a
nation that is free. Thank you,
God, for listening to my prayer.
Month
January seventh is my birthday, and it is a happy day.
February is the month of final exams. And we are afraid of morning traffic jams.
March is a lot of fun because we get to sit under the sun.
In April, when everyone makes each other a fool, I just go outside and swim in a pool.
May is the month of Mother’s Day. We celebrate and make her play.
In June, my teacher brings a cake. We eat it while sitting next to a lake.
National day of the US on the Fourth of July, with colors and flags in the sky.
August is Independence Day of India, free from England, and it is in Asia.
School starts in September. Books, syllabus that I need to .
October it is starting to become winter, and I always wear a sweater.
Dull November brings the blast, and the leaves are dropping fast.
Chilly December brings the sleet, blazing fire, and a Christmas treat.
The Football Tournment
In the year 2014,
the tournament had begun.
The tournament carried on for a month.
At last, won.
Every Day
School gets over,
I go home.
Mum tells me to do my homework,
And then my day is ruined.
Day
Hot, sunny,
Shining, heating, enjoying,
Sunny, hot, cold, windy,
Sleeping, screaming, dreaming,
Cold, drowsy
Night.
Snowman
Snowman on the car, Why don’t you walk so far? Why do you have a long nose? Why do you have the same pose?
Oh, little boy, Without legs there is no joy. It’s just because of this carrot. I don’t want to become a parrot.
The Little
His face is the moon in the sky.
His smile is the constellation.
His eyes are the deep blue sea.
Rain
I saw rain.
I saw rain.
I saw water falling from the sky.
I do not know why.
Don’t go outside.
You will catch cold.
Haiku
Eagles are quite strong.
Eagles live among the mountains.
Eagles are so fast.
Slippers
These are my slippers.
They are exactly the same.
They are old.
They are lame.
These are my slippers.
One of them is torn, I told.
I wear them all around.
I treat them like gold.
These are my slippers.
I love them, I do.
I can outpace you.
With these, I visit the zoo.
I Wish
I wish I had a magic wand
to stop global warming,
which is dangerous to the world
because it is depleting the ozone layer.
I wish I could control the reducing oxygen
and increasing carbon dioxide.
Money Can’t Buy Everything
Money can’t buy everything.
It can’t buy love;
It comes from the heart.
It can’t buy God
How much ever you try.
You can’t buy joy,
even if you have a huge bank.
Inside Outside
My outside self and my inside self are different from each other. My outside self is boring, And it is not so charming. I tried to make me look tall By wearing shoes with heels small.
My outside self is different From my inside self. Brilliant, you can’t see Tender heart inside of me. I have concern if someone cries. Feel happy if someone praise.

It is small and round.
The color is yellow and orange.
It can change day and night.
Most of the time it is there.
It is the sun.

Are they light?
Does the light make the bag bright?

Snow fighting and skiing, snowboarding, making a snowman. Winter is changing.
Walk
We went on a walk yesterday. We all sang a song. We were walking on top of the mountain. My footsteps were very long.
We saw a cute little dog. There were no trees. We saw a big eagle. There was a cool breeze.
We were so cold. We were all happy. We all felt hungry,
but we never felt thirsty.
Boy

it arrives freely.
Then and Now
I used to be in a house,
playing and drawing on paper.
But now I am in a palace,
where there is no paper.
Short Story
Talking Garbage Can!
One afternoon, Jimmy entered home apprehensively. His bike was stolen from the school parking lot. Being a fourth-grade student, he couldn’t go to the police station and complain on his own, so he had to tell his father. He knew his father would become upset because he bought the bike just two days back.
As soon as he entered, his dad questioned him. “Where is your bike?”
Jimmy was so frightened and agitated. He started mumbling rapidly, “It is in my friend’s house.”
Then he rushed upstairs and dashed into his room. He was so tormented that he started to cry very softly so that his dad would not hear him.
In the evening, he didn’t show up for dinner. So his father got curious, and he went upstairs to call Jimmy for dinner.
It was pitch dark in Jimmy’s room. He didn’t know when he fell asleep while crying. He suddenly woke up when he heard a feeble voice coming from under the bed.
The father entered Jimmy’s room and told him, “Come down! Dinner is ready.”
“Alright dad.” He got up and followed his father and didn’t bother about the noise coming he heard a moment ago.
They ate fruits and vegetables after eating soup. Dad asked,
“Where is your bike?”
“Dad it’s with my friend” He was surprised by the query but managed to answer.
“Which friend?”
“Joel”
And he quickly finished his food and went back upstairs. His dad went to his room. They all were at home because it was a weekend.
Before bedtime, the father entered Jimmy’s room and he told,
“Clean your room Jimmy”
“Ok dad”
When he was cleaning his room he forgot to clean under his bed, but he jettisoned half of the things he had in his room which were useless.
Next morning, he woke up because of the same noise. He investigated his room and found Slogoman under the bed. He ed that he drank a soft drink named Slogoman two weeks ago and forgot to throw the can. Jimmy picked up the tin and when he was about to throw it suddenly the tin said, “Don’t throw me,” and Jimmy screamed,
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”
“Don’t worry I won’t hurt you” the tin said
And Jimmy quickly hid Slogoman back under the bed because he knew that his father would come to his room any time.
Father came and asked Jimmy, “What happened?”
“Nothing it was just a cockroach”
“Thank God you scared me!”
“Sorry dad”
When the father went back to his room, Jimmy took Slogoman back again and Slogoman started to talk,
“If you tell your dad the truth I will help you”
“No, are you crazy?”
“Tell him the truth that your bike got stolen, he will forgive you”
“No he won’t”
“Yes he will”
“Ah! Okay!” Jimmy gave up.
Jimmy was confident at breakfast and he told his father, “Dad I lied, I got robbed”
Then his dad shouted at him. Although he was hurt but glad that he had left something, which was prickling him for hours, out of his chest.
He went back upstairs and told Slogoman, “I told him”
“Good,” the tin replied.
“Now can you help me to get my bike back?”
“Yes,” even though it sounded impossible, Jimmy tried to believe that tin would help.
Jimmy got extremely excited.
After some time, Slogoman bought a bike which looked exactly same as his bike Jimmy said, “Thank you Slogoman” And he ran downstairs to tell his dad that he found his bike. The dad was so happy and he said, “Sorry for yelling at you”
“It’s ok dad”
“How did you get your bike back?”
“I drank Slogoman two weeks ago and I forgot to throw it. Today it started communicating with me. It is a magic tin, dad.”
The father got astonished; he was reluctant to believe Jimmy. He thought Jimmy was dishonest. Jimmy rushed to his room and brought his beloved Slogoman tin. He started chatting with Slogoman in front of his dad. Dad was bewildered and
said, “Wow, fantastic, it is true!”
Jimmy was so excited that he was able to convince his dad. Slogoman screamed in excitement, “I told you, your dad will forgive you if you tell him the truth.”
That day Jimmy had learned a lesson. NEVER LIE.
