Siebel 8.0 Application Deployment Manager Overview Siebel 8.0 Application Deployment Manager () is a framework for migrating application customizations from a source environment to one or more target environments. It provides a process to automate and unify the deployment of application customizations and enables an efficient and predicable deployment outcome through re-usable deployment packages and process automation. Key Features in Siebel 8.0 consists of four key stages to deploy application customizations: package, deploy, activate and restore. in 8.0 s 70+ data types as out-of-the-box functionalities. All three data categories can be deployed using in 8.0: • Repository: e.g. WF Action Type, WF policy • Database: e.g. Smart Scripts, Access Groups • File: e.g. Web Templates, Reports Package

The Package Utility creates and validates the deployment package, which can then be used by the framework to deploy Siebel application customizations to a target environment. It also creates the package descriptor file that is used during the deployment process. The Package Utility is a stand-alone, Java-based program that is invoked through a batch file to execute various package commands at the command-line. By default, it is installed with the Siebel Management Server and Siebel Tools, and you can copy it to other Windows or UNIX machines. Deploy The feature automates the migration of Siebel application customizations between same-version and same-language environments. The migration process uses the framework as a means of managing the customization migration process, validating the process in various stages, and activating the data customizations in the new environment. The customizations migration process can also be run outside the framework using the Siebel application GUI or Siebel Server Manager command-line interface to facilitate the deployment. Activate This feature activates the new application customizations in the target environment. It can be used to stage deployment to minimize downtime. Activation is only required for certain data types. Restore Siebel enables automated backup and restore through command line interface. It allows changes to be backed out in the event of any problems. Restore is only effective within the same deployment session.
