Understand The Revolve tool by Waqas Ahmad Mechanical Engineering 360
This tutorial is made using Creo Elements/Pro V 5.0. The display layout may be different for other versions.

Introduction A revolve feature is based on a two-dimensional sketch. You can use a revolve feature to revolve a sketch about an axis of revolution (in the sketching plane) to create or remove material. You can either select the sketch first or start the Revolve tool, or you can start the Revolve tool and then select the sketch. Let’s see it’s a very simple exercise.
Exercise in this exercise I will suppose you have read my privious tutorial about Extrrude tool.if not than you may read it by clicking Here.
1) Open your creo Elements /pro and than select a new solid part as shown in figure.Name your part as Revolve_tool or any of your choice . 2) Select a front plan for our sketch and enter the sketching window by clicking at the sketch button.
3) In sketching window make the following sketch (shown at next page) Note: As we are going to understand tool so being restricted to it I select a very simple and so much easy sketc. One thing you should that if you want to revolve a sketch than you must have need to draw/select the refrence axis.

Your sketch must be at a side of the referance line. In the following figur you can see the sketch is at the right side of the referance line.
Now our sketch is ready to revole. So click at done.So you may enter to graphics window.
Now click at revolve tool and than select the referance line that you have drawn.

Your skecth will look like this.
At this point we need to recall the tutorial about extrude.Because the setting option of the revolve tool have some feature as we have discussed it in last tutorial.
From here you can define at what angle it should be revolved and in the fig you can see I have make it at 360 angle. Also you can revolve your sketch as a thiken sheet. After setting every thing just press Done buttone to complete the exercise.

Revolve cut Now we will use use revolve tool to remove the material just as we remove material using extrude tool.In this exercise we will remove material from the inclined sides of our revolve_prt. 1) Now again select the front plane and center the skeching window.Before skecthing any thing we have to change the display fron solid to line-sketch so we can draw our sketch easily without any error.So click at hidden line option.
2) Make the folling sketch at the inclined side of the part and click at done

3) Now change the apperance to shadding and select the newly made sketch and click at revolve tool. 4) Select the referance axis that is the centerline of the hole.Then click at remove material button and click at OK button.
