SHONEN JUMP MANGA COMPETITION

Rules of Application Please read the rules carefully and submit the form at the bottom of the page. 1) Manga to be entered The competition is open to all unpublished shonen manga from anywhere in the world in Japanese, English and Chinese (Simplified Chinese characters or Traditional Chinese characters).

2) Format of Entries There are no restrictions to the manner of production, but entries must be submitted for judging in JPEG format. （The prize-winning works may be printed on paper medium so please keep a high resolution version of your data.） Manuscript size at time of production: greater than 650 dpi (Display resolution) recommended, width: 230mm to 260mm, height: 330mm to 360mm Data format for submission: JPEG files compressed using ZIP Manuscript size for submission: Around 100 dpi (Display resolution) with an RGB profile saved as JPEG files. Height and width should be approximately 1200 x 800 pixels. File name : The file name of the JPEG files shall be alphanumeric (or half size-kana) names with a three-digit page number. (e.g. testmanga001.jpg, testmanga002.jpg) The prize-winning works may be printed on paper medium so please keep a high resolution version of your data.

3) Length of manuscript Either 15 pages, 19 pages, 31 pages or 45 pages

4) Deadline October 1, 2013

5) Selection Process Finalists will be selected by the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department (Shueisha), the editor in chief of the North American Weekly Shonen Jump (VIZ Media, LLC), and the editor in chief of the new magazine OK! Comic to be born in China (Fanfan Manga), and the editor in chief of Taiwan’s FORMOSA YOUTH (Tongli).Works of the final candidates will be translated into all three languages and will be posted on shonenjump.com. Reader popularity polls will be taken into to select the Grand Prize, the Top Prize: Most Popular in Japanese, the Top Prize: Most Popular in Chinese and the Top Prize: Most Popular in English. ※Prize winners are guaranteed to be selected.

6) Prize money and privilege The Grand Prize winner will receive 500,000 yen. The Top Prize: Most Popular in Japanese will receive 500,000 yen and publication in Weekly Shonen Jump or one of its special edition issues. The Top Prize: Most Popular in English will receive 500,000 yen and publication in North American Weekly Shonen Jump. The Top Prize: Most Popular in Chinese will receive 500,000 yen and publication in the new magazine to be born in China OK! Comic or on the website of the new magazine and publication in Taiwan’s FORMOSA YOUTH. The prize money may be subject to taxes or fees which may arise at the time of presentation to the winners.

7) Announcement Schedule The final candidates’ works will be announced in shonenjump.com around November 2013. The final candidate’s works are expected to be shown on shonenjump.com between November to December 2013. Prize winners are expected to be announced December 2013 to 2014.

communication and notification of prizes. Depending on the language the entry was submitted in, winners will be ed by the offices of Shueisha (Japan), VIZ Media (USA), Fanfan Manga (China) or Tongli (Taiwan). All rights including the publication rights, the screening stage rights, adaptation to animation or live action video of the submitted works shall belong to Shueisha. The submitted works must be an original creation of the person submitting the work and must not infringe the rights of any third party. The applicant shall indemnify Shueisha, VIZ Media LLC, Fanfan Manga and Tongli against any damages that may incur by these matters not being adhered to. VIZ Media is not a sponsor of this contest. By entering this contest you hereby completely release VIZ Media from any and all claims related to the contest, your entry, or the use of your entry and you acknowledge that this contest is in no way sponsored by VIZ Media.
