STATEMENT OF PURPOSE “The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible”- Arthur C. Clarke is what I have always believed in and it drove me further into the land of answers and questions yet to be answered. The immense possibility of trying out and the instant knowledge gained from the outcome that fosters one to further analyze a rationale in question, is what I find most appealing about Electronics. Keeping up an inquisitive and explorative attitude always leads to a constant learning process. Cognizance and proper training are very essential to succeed in today’s highly competitive world. The best place where I can achieve this is The United States of America the undeniable leader in creating and bringing out new products and processes. To achieve my goals, I would like to pursue my Master’s program in Electronics. The ever changing borderline of science and technology always kindled the fascination in me. Right from my childhood, I had a propensity for science and appreciation of innovative ideas. In the pursuit of knowledge, I had always adopted a rigorous approach in order to grasp the intricacies of a given subject. Though my aggregate in Bachelor’s program is little low (76%), I would like to put forth my extra curricula’s in . My innate strengths have been my quantitative and analytical abilities, which instilled in me a special interest for Mathematics and science. I secured 89% in my secondary education and was one of the toppers in the school. My disposition towards Mathematics and Science led me to choose Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major for 10+2 where I secured 90.3%. During my undergraduate course, I was strong in subjects like Signals and Systems, Electromagnetic waves and Transmission lines, Analog and Digital communication, Embedded systems, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers where I dealt with issues related to their instruction sets, parallel processing, their programming, priorities and control, etc. which were quite interesting and required pragmatic thinking. These subjects infused in me the enthusiasm to deal with more concepts of electronics in real life situations. One of the reasons behind my fascination towards Communication field is due to the vital role it has played in man’s development starting with the early age to the present day and it is this power that has let left me greedy wanting to know more. When I was naïve to technological world, it amazed me that a person at one end of the globe could not just speak but could see the other person on the other end of the globe within the snap of fingers. Today I know that even with all these innovations there’s a still a lot more yet to be discovered, researched and progressed beyond one’s wildest imagination. My major project also dealt with Embedded Systems where I was the head of the Hardware Development Team. This project mainly helped me to develop my skills related to, embedded systems as it played the major role in the development of the project. This project has actually given me immense practical knowledge and made me realize that everything we study in theory might not be that easy to actualize and implement in practice. Through my

paper presentations on “Wireless Technology” I made my deep understanding of the subject evident and was lauded by professors. My seminar on “Innovation and growth in Communication field through the Centuries” earned me encomiums and gave me the boost that I needed. Learning to work with software’s like Mat lab, Keil and Xilinx, has increased my zeal toward learning concepts and developing their applications. The enthusiasm in me to explore the world of possibilities did not just constrain itself with academics, but played its part in helping me discover myself. Working in core team for SWECHA (a free software workshop by Free Software Moment) has opened my up my mind and heart to realize my true potential and the leader in me. Organizing fests and cultural events has given confidence and taught me how planning ahead can make things much simpler. Working with people around me has taught me the power of team spirit and to be adaptable and the amicable nature in me has made this easier. My Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering has opened up many possibilities and challenges for the reason that science and technology are the roots of many interesting science and technical activities. My learning of the core subjects of ECE helped me to understand and analyze that expansion of my knowledge in Electronics would develop my innate skills and enhance my level of understanding of current practical problems which I feel is very important. Having done an stimulating Bachelor’s course in Electronics and Communication Engineering, I would like to put in this knowledge to pursue my Master’s in Electronics Engineering. This would give me the leading edge in technology and the practical information I require. I personally feel that graduate study at your esteemed university is a logical extension of my endeavors and a major step in the achievement of my objectives. The main reason for choosing your university is the extensive research going on in my field of interest, presence of distinguished faculty and stimulating academic environment apart from the fantastic infrastructure. I have learnt from the departmental website of your university about the extensive research being undertaken. As seen from the course catalog, there are certain subjects which interest me like robotics and control, telecommunications and wireless communications, electro-optics, image processing, computer vision, and VLSI design, etc. Under your renowned faculty, excellent technical expertise and state-of-the-art facilities, I am looking forward to obtain a quality education from your university. I assure you that my commitment, determination and zeal will be mirrored in my course work and an assistantship under your eminent faculty will uphold my grit to take up the challenge of a demanding graduate program. My skills in spoken and written English are very good and I am very confident of handling the teaching duties assigned to me with ease.
