An infinitive is the TO form of a verb.

You mentioned earlier that the word TO makes them similar and now, focus yourselves on the second word. What can you observe? And how do you consider the second word in each answer? Do you agree class? And what is a verb?

The second word in each of the answer is considered a VERB. Yes, teacher. Verb is an action word.

Exactly! That’s the simplest description of what a verb is. And it is written in what form of the verb?

To form infinitive/s it must compose of “TO” and a “VERB” in its base form.

present on the lyrics of the song. But wait, take a look at this: TO ME Why did you not encircle it if starts with to? Precisely! This is what I love in this class. You exercise very well your critical thinking skills. It is called a PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE. Based from the phrase TO ME, how do we form it ? Right! Take a look at this example: ▪I go to school to learn. Which is the infinitive in sentence?

We just have to add TO before a VERB. The verb is written in its simple/ present form. We just have to add TO before a NOUN/ PRONOUN.

THE BOASTFUL SHRIMP Once there was a shrimp who thought he was the most handsome shrimp in all the world. “Just look at my sword,” he proudly told, pointing to the protrusion at the end of his nose.“Nothing can pierce my shield”. “All I need is to show my shield and to hold my head high.” “You are a handsome shrimp but you need not to display yourself too much or else those humans might grab you,” said the old shrimp.“Grab me? All I need is to stab him with my sword and that will be the end of him. Someday, they will learn to ire me!” said the shrimp. The young shrimp forgot the old shrimp’s advice. He continued his habit of showing his strong muscles inside his shell to other young shrimps.One day, a fishing boat ed by to look for a good catch. The boastful shrimp swam to the surface of the water. The fishermen saw him and the boastful young shrimp was caught in the net. That day, at lunch time, the boastful shrimp was seen on the end of a barbecue stick. “What a fine, fat shrimp!” exclaimed the persons around the dining table. “It’s the best shrimp I’ve ever tasted!” said the person who picked up the barbecue stick. The boastful young shrimp got his wish at last.
