I dedicate this book to all the women who are battling breast cancer and who are filled with fear of dying. We just don’t beat breast cancer we deal with it in a positive manner, accept it, and use ourselves as role models and systems to others.

I dedicate this book to the true heroes, the surgeons, plastic surgeon, oncologist, radiologist and of course my gynecologist who found the two lumps in my left breast. If it wasn’t for Dr. Z, I may not be writing this excerpt now.

I would also like to thank my children, Alexis and Sierra, step daughter, Anika, and her husband Jason, and my dear husband and excellent internal medicine Doctor, Paul, who have been there every step of the way on this beautiful journey. My Mother and Father Joseph and Joan D., you are the best parents any daughter could wish and hope for. My three brothers, Joey, Daniel and Evan. You are an awesome trio. My dear friends, Joy, Heidi, Elaine, Pinky, Lizette, Suzie, Scott, Bill, Bob, Donna, Odysseas, ABC, Lupe Wendy, Virginia, Karen, Erica, Rosine, Valentina etc. and all my co-workers at BOA and Chase. Life is a journey, live in the moment, forget about the past, don’t worry about the future. Each day is a beautiful gift that we must treasure.

Our destiny has been laid out in front of us. Control what you can, and allow life’s events to flow as they should. We must be in sync with the natural progression of things.

Preface

This book too was a part of my mission. I became unbalanced, working in the world of Corporate America. I was always on the run, hardly ever taking the time to listen to my inner wisdom. The signals were there, but I ignored them. I tried to make believe that they didn’t exist, and then the unspeakable happened, . . . I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Prior to the diagnosis, I was working at Bank of America in my 17th year. I told myself that I needed a change. I had no idea what that change was, so I switched jobs and went to work for JP Morgan Chase. I thought that a change in companies and a different working environment would be the right prescription to what was ailing me. Indeed it wasn’t. I was leaving the house at 7:30 am and returning just before 7:00pm. I was working an additional ten hours. For what? To prove that I was a successful Business Banker in the corporate world? In retrospect, the change that I so desired had a lot to do with my internal clock. My body was completely off kilter and I just had no idea. In the same breath my mind was saying that I needed some sort of change. All along, my internal thermostat said that I was raging with a stage 2, grade 3 (very aggressive) breast cancer. Why? Because I was out of sorts, and not in balance with my inner self. My subconscious even went so far to tell me directly in a dream that time was running out. I woke up one morning, full of apprehension. I was unable to shut the prior night’s dream out of my mind. In my dream, I was walking down a corridor, and all of a sudden, my watch exploded in a million fragments. Wouldn’t you think that two months prior to my diagnosis, my body was telling my mind what was about to happen? Yes, indeed it did! The explosion was my life, and the shattering of the watch, signified that time was of the essence. At that time I needed to move quickly to save my life. The significance of the time piece was that I had been working in the corporate world for twenty plus years, and I had never taken the time to focus on me and only me.

2/8/12

Wednesday morning, I had the day off because I worked the previous Saturday, so I went to my scheduled gynecologist appointment. The Doctor recommended that I have my left ovary, cyst and fallopian tube removed because he saw a 6.5 cm cyst on my left ovary. Before leaving my appointment, Dr. Z suggested a breast exam. He palpated my breasts and felt a lump in my left breast. The look on his serious face spoke louder than words. I felt a strange sensation deep inside my body, truly knowing that something just wasn’t right. He then scheduled a mammogram and guided ultrasound for the following Wednesday.

Wednesday arrived quickly and I went to Christine Lynn’s Wellness Center for my mammogram and diagnostic ultrasound of my breast. After watching the girl take pictures and measuring the same spots over & over again, I just knew something wasn’t right. I knew that I had cancer. I felt weak in the knees while walking out of the office and quickly called my husband, Paul. He quickly drove over to the center and the radiologist stated that by the shape of the tumors, it was very likely breast cancer. The staff rubbed my back and consoled me as best as possible. I was in a trance and felt void of all emotion. I just couldn’t get the tears out due to the shock of it all.

2/17/12

My biopsy was scheduled for 2 pm on Friday. Paul came with me for the biopsy. They injected a needle, so that they could take enough tissue out of my breast. I was still in shock with all the events that were unraveling right before my eyes. Afterwards Paul & I went to Mario’s restaurant & sat outside. We each had a salad & talked. We were both very distraught and couldn’t believe the events that were unfolding right before our eyes. We decided to go to the mall where Alexis was getting her hair cut. We sat with her at the food court & went back to Mario’s to sit outside & our friends for dinner.

2/18/12

Paul took myself & the girls to the annual Renaissance festival in Deerfield Beach. We watched a good show & walked around for several hours. The four of us watched a hysterical mud show. Most of the audience was covered in mud. I needed a good laugh. It was great to be out with family.

2/19/12

I went to my favorite gym class, the boot camp with Ron. I don’t mind attending a bootcamp at 8:30am. I feel mentally, physically & spiritually stronger after working out. After the gym, I went home, changed & picked Joy up at her Dad’s house. We went to Starbucks, then the church of All Nations on Glades Rd in Boca. The singing & fellowship was amazing at this church. It was a very emotional & uplifting experience for Joy Heidi & myself. Joy & I left a little early, then went to the Grand Lux. We split a plate of Asian Nachos and Heidi came over to us. Heidi had the same surgeon, Dr. T who removed her right breast. I opted for the double mastectomy because I never want to worry about the cancer returning. Heidi has been so ive & helpful in these times. I have people praying & emailing me. It has been very upsetting for everyone. I

am strong, healthy & live well. This disease will not conquer me. I will conquer it, then move on & those women who have dealt with the same situation as myself. Afterwards I watched my daughters play their final soccer game, where they lost. It was still exciting to see the final game of the season.

2/20/12

Went back to work. Two women who I work with, are breast cancer survivors. I received the official diagnosis: breast cancer, infiltrating ductal carcinoma stage 2, grade 3. My friend, T had a stage 1 breast cancer, which only required a lumpectomy. I’m not sure which stage my other associate was in, but she still takes Tamoxifen, which I was told that I will be taking for at least 5 yrs. I feel hopeful for the future and ready to begin the protocol of treatment.

2/21/12

Paul & I took the entire day off to visit Dr. C @ 9:00 am. He suggested a lumpectomy. I’m undecided at the moment, but I’m leaning towards a bilateral mastectomy. We are getting a second opinion with Dr. T.

2/25/12

I took Alexis & Sierra to the dermatologist in the morning, so all 3 of us could get screened for skin cancer. Alexis has a large mole on her back that the Doctor would like to recheck in 6 mos. We all wore these funny looking paper dresses. We all looked like space aliens. Alexis & Sierra took pictures for Facebook. Afterwards, we went to a Cuban restaurant for eggs and cafe con leche. We went

home, then later Paul & I went to Joy’s 40th Birthday Party in West Palm Beach. It was a great get together. I talked with Heidi who is a 5 year breast cancer survivor. She gave me a prayer cloth, which I put underneath my pillow at night.

Sun 2/26/12

Heidi & Joy took me to the Church of All Nations at 12:00. I had 2 priests & 2 priestess’s praying over me after the church ceremony. I do feel like the spirit of God is filled within me. My faith is so strong that I will not give this cancer any strength. It is below my feet, & nothing will destroy my body & soul. We will not give this cancer the glory, because it is an entity within me that will soon be destroyed never to return again. I feel that this cancer, was given to me to make me stronger and allow me to be able to minister to others. I know that we can overcome anything that gets in our way with the proper attitude & of others. After church, we went to Brio. Alexis drove over & ed Heidi Joy Lizette & myself. It is a great thing to be near friends in this time of crisis. My spirituality will get me through this and I feel as if I’m on the outside looking in. My love of life, God & faith can move mountains. I felt at peace throughout the remainder of the day.

Monday 2/27/12

I went to work as usual, & left at 1:00 pm. We had a 2:00 pm appointment with Dr. O, the plastic surgeon. While Paul and I waited in the Doctor’s office, we met a lady named Susan. She has the same thing as myself. She may not be able to have reconstruction with the mastectomy, due to the fact that she has vascular problems. She was searching for a plastic surgeon who would perform the surgery with her complications. We both share the same attitude and want this thing out of us as soon as possible. Get this ungodly thing out of my body!! I want to make it through this surgery and move on with my life. Dr. O was very nice. He and Dr T are to be working on me simultaneously during my

mastectomy. I have faith in these Doctors and trust that they will do a fine job.

Tues 2/28/12

My friend Kaysa from ADP, took me to an acupuncturist named Adam. Ironically, she took me to the same acupuncturist where two weeks prior, I had cut out an article from the newspaper regarding this same acupuncturist and kept it in my desk at work.

Adam placed needles in my forehead, legs, arms & stomach. I felt well & balanced after the visit. I went back to my office at Chase, took out the article about the acupuncturist & found that he was the same person. I couldn’t believe the true power of suggestion. It was as if I was meant to see him. Our paths will cross again in the future.

Wed 2/29/12

Went to work as usual & had a permanent crown put on at the dentist’s office. Dr. K has to work on my teeth again tomorrow. I want to complete all dental work, because I will not be able to have dental work or even floss my teeth during chemotherapy. I have to be extra careful with infections and dental work. After work Paul, Alexis, Sierra & I saw, “This Means War” with Reese Witherspoon. It was an adorable movie where 2 guys were fighting over the lady. It’s been a great week, despite all that I’ve been through, I’m happy & grateful to be alive!!

Thur 3/1/12

Day prior to surgery. I tried to maintain normal routine. I drove over to the acupuncturist on my lunch break. It relaxed me. Kaysa from ADP came to visit me. She brought me the most comfortable brown blanket, & pillow for post surgery. She has such a strong faith in God. I left work early, went home and took a long shower. Karen K, my long-time friend came over. She brought me magazines & chocolates. We talked for quite a while. Then Paul the girls & I got ready to go to Maggiano’s. I backed out & hit her car, due to my frame of mind. Luckily, no damage was done. We laughed about it and had a nice dinner prior to the surgery for my bilateral mastectomy and reconstructive breast surgery.

3/3/12

The big day has arrived. We woke up early and I straightened up the house. We then drove down to Imperial Point hospital. I had Paul stop at McDonalds, so I could go to the bathroom. I was quite anxious pre-op. The nurses were nice & Paul stayed with me the entire time. My step daughter, Anika came to visit. She was so positive & inspirational. Alexis & Sierra drove down later. I could barely what they were saying to me. The room seemed to be a big cloud of air that I was drifting on. Paul slept in my room that night. I was so foggy from the opioids. I made it through the surgery with no problem. Thanks to everyone’s prayers & the love of God

3/3/12

Sat morning I woke up and ate some breakfast. The nurses were extremely nice. Joy & Heidi came down to visit me. I was so pale & weak. The pain was intense, but the hydrocodone and the morphine drip that they gave me helped. Alexis & Sierra told me that they went surfing on Singer Island with Anika. She is such a great stepsister. Had a nice pot pie for dinner & planned to leave hospital. Left

hospital at 7:30 pm. I decided to leave due to hospital infection risk. That night was so rough for Paul & I. He helped me go to the bathroom, where my blood pressure dropped, & I felt cold & fainted. He almost called 911, then placed me back into bed. He’s been wearing himself out, by changing the bed pans and feeding me. Day 2 over.

I tried to walk around the house and sit outside in the fresh air. I want to avoid taking medication for the pain.

3/5/12 Monday

I remained in bed, on & off. Donna K came over to visit. She bought me gigantic pink roses, stuffed animal & a red bird with peacock feathers. She stayed for about an hour, and talked to me while I laid in bed. I’m starting to feel a little better, but constipated from the medication.

3/6/12

Tues: Woke up early & went to visit the plastic surgeon, Dr. O. He removed the bandages. I felt nothing when I saw that both of my breasts were missing. No major depression. Losing the hair doesn’t matter either, but staying alive does. Dr. O said that my progress was remarkable. He told me not to be so stiff when I walk. It was another good morning. We left, went to IHOP & walked the mall. He suggested that I don’t lie around and walk every day. We tried on wigs and I found a short & long blonde hair wig that I liked. An older lady, stood by and

spoke with us. She lost her cousin to cancer 10 years ago. She was crying, and recounted stories how her cousin had fun with wearing various wigs. Afterwards, I got my hair washed & dried. I felt like a new woman. Decided not to shave my hair until necessary.

3/7/12 Wed.

Woke up and ate oatmeal that Paul prepared for me. We got ready and went to Pompano, then to Paul’s medical office. I met the new Doctor. Dr. G is a big asset to the practice. Afterwards we went out to dinner at Frankie & Dino’s in Pompano Beach with Bob and Donna.

3/8/12

Thurs. Paul and I walked to Yamato Road. I keep getting many beautiful flower arrangements.

My home is starting to look like a florist shop. I watched the movie, “Gone” with Paul and the girls

3/9/12—Fri

I woke up, ate breakfast & went to visit Dr. O. I really look forward to seeing my plastic surgeon. We talk about our teenagers and great Chinese restaurants. My favorite is Uncle Tais in Boca. Afterwards I called my area Mgr., Brian, to have

him start processing my disability paperwork. I used my first week as sick days, then I will be sent paperwork to start disability which is 60% of my pay & it lasts 26 weeks. I may go back August or Sept 1st. It depends on how I feel.

I made appointments for my next surgery. Joy came over & helped me clean out the refrigerator. We then went to the Grand Lux with Heidi & grocery shopping. I stayed in & had difficulty sleeping.

3/10/12 Sat.

Just got up & read all my “Happy B-Day” texts. Alexis went to her job and I sat outside to enjoy the sunlight! Paul & I went for an hour and a half walk. This time we made it from St. Andrews all the way down to Jog Road. Along the way we stopped at an open house and had a tour of a 660K house for sale. I always feel stronger after these walks. I went back home and slept a little. Mom, Dad & Joey called me to wish me a happy 46th B-day. In the afternoon, I went with Alexis to look for prom shoes. She has one 9½ & one 10 size foot. The size 10’s that she tried on were too big on one foot. We left and got ready for Ruth Chris. At 7:00 Paul Alexis & I, met Donna & Bob at Ruth Chris in Mizner Park. Donna got me a neat black purse, white bible & angel globe. The girls got me a Michael Kors change purse. This one is so nice, the coins won’t slide out, and you can place the driver’s license on the outside. Had a great steak dinner, with spinach, asparagus, stuffed mushrooms, ravioli & shrimp. The B-Day cake was a great chocolate cake. Everyone sang and I blew out the candles. We had a few laughs. We always laugh when we talk about our next door neighbor bringing back the two parrots that were missing for a year. Paul said, “these are not my birds. “It was so funny, because he had let the bird fly free a year ago. I felt a little down on my birthday. Maybe because I haven’t been feeling like my usual self and I don’t know what to expect. I place my full faith & trust in Lord Jesus. The faith of a mustard seed, can move mountains. I plan on coming out of this stronger & better. I slept good B-Day night.

3/11/12 Sun.

Paul woke up in a romantic mood. We watched a movie. I got ready to meet my girlfriends out at the restaurant Brio. Joy picked me up at 12:15. We met Elaine at Brio, then Susie, Karen, Pinky Heidi & Lizette showed up. We sat outside from 12:30 to 2:30 eating a nice brunch. Joy got me a beautiful pink breast cancer bracelet, with the words “hope” “courage” and “strength” on it. I wear the bracelet every day. She also got me a $25.00 bonefish gift card. Heidi got me a beautiful breast cancer cup, bracelet (pink) zumba & a survivor angel pin, Karen got me a $50.00 olive garden gift card, chocolates & magazines, Elaine, got me flowers, card & chocolates, Pinky got me flowers and a card, Susie got me a teddy bear & card, and Lizette got me a card & $50.00. The other gifts were Aunt Fidelis “purple & pink flower arrangement, Aunt Elaine card & St. Agatha medal, Bob and Donna, big pink roses, stuffed animal, red bird with peacock feathers & a Versace purse. Evan—wild flower arrangement, Dan-card Joy $50 olive garden gift card, Mom & Dad, pajamas & Jesus prayer book. The teammates at Bank of America send me a card where everyone signed. Sofia has been praying with me on the phone. (She & I worked together for many years w/ BOA merchant services. I cannot get over the out pouring of love from so many people. Sunday was a great day. It was even nicer than my birthday. I really enjoy getting together with my girlfriends. Later that afternoon, Paul and I met Bob & Donna at Uncle Tais restaurant next to Brio. We ordered the whole fish & the cashew chicken, and vegetables. Afterwards, we saw the 9:40 movie “1,000 words” with Eddie Murphy. It was funny but very inspirational. In the end family is what matters most, and one must choose their words carefully. Doing good deeds has a profound effect on one’s life and the lives of others. We are all interconnected somehow, someway.

3/12/12 Monday

Dr. O took my drains out. Now, I can finally shower. Time to set goals & start writing that book that I want to write. We went to Dr. Voss’s funeral. He died quite unexpectedly one afternoon while taking a nap on the couch. It was a

pleasant service. Afterwards, Paul & I ate lunch at La Bamba restaurant. I went to the mall with Alexis to look at prom shoes. I was tired, so I went home to bed.

Tues 3/13/12

Went to PNC bank with Paul, because I have a maturing CD. After the bank, we went to Boca Regional hospital for pre-op. The nurse Sarah was so nice. My gynecologist Dr. Z is going to perform an oopharectomy (removal of both ovaries) on Friday @ 7:30am. I have a cyst in my left ovary. Afterwards Carrianne and Lupe came to visit. They brought flowers & stayed for a while. I took Alexis & Sierra to the Olive Garden for dinner. We ate soup, pasta & dessert. Our waiter, ABC, would not allow me to pay for the dinner. He has his Haitan Church in Boca praying for me. It’s amazing, how much love is out there. It really, truly, is a beautiful world out there. We drove home & went to bed.

Wed—3/14/12

I woke up, drank that horrible tasting wheat grass drink, then Paul & I went for our daily walk. The walks are boosting my energy. We had a 2:45 appointment with oncologist. Dr. S. She spent quite a while with us explaining my protocol for cancer treatment. She called my gynecologist to make sure that Friday’s surgery was necessary. He wanted the ovaries removed because of the cyst. Chemotherapy will start in 3 weeks, probably the beginning of April. I had 3 out of 20 lymph nodes testing positive for cancer. The appointment went very well. It also eased our minds regarding Friday’s surgery. Afterwards Paul & I drove to Ft. Lauderdale to meet the Doctors at his office. I relaxed on the couch at the office. After, we went to Thai Spice for dinner. We ate Shrimp Pad Thai & Tomgaki soup. It was a nice evening.

Thur 3/15/12

At 9:00 am we went to see our plastic surgeon, Dr. O. I developed a rash on the incisions across my chest. It’s quite itchy and angry looking. We went to Walgreens to get a steroid cream, then ran errands to Paul’s ant and the bank. Afterwards Paul & I ate at Duffy’s restaurant. I had the clam chowder & guacamole dip. Went home and to bed.

3/16/12

Woke up at 5:00 am for the bilateral laparoscopic oopharectomy. We arrived at Boca Regional hospital at 6:15 am. Dr. Z, my gynecologist removed both ovaries, fallopian tubes and cyst on my left ovary. As I was wheeled into the operating room my gynecologist said that they might have to do a wash, because the cyst could be ovarian cancer. My mind was reeling with apprehension before being wheeled into surgery. Be strong EVE and think positive! The good news was that the cyst tested negative for ovarian cancer. I was happy that there wasn’t a second cancer site. We left the hospital at 3:30. I had to wait to have a good pee. It was almost impossible to pee, so the nurse gave me more IV fluids in order to go. Once I urinated, I couldn’t stop. I sat on the toilet for several hours at home. I thought that I would never stop peeing. I stayed in bed the rest of the day. It was a little painful every time I got up. Second surgery out of the way!!

3/17/12 Sat

Woke up early. I said goodbye to Alexis. She was going on her senior trip to the

Bahamas. Her friend, Vilta drove her to the airport. Paul and I drove to the airport to pick my brother, Joey up. I gave him a green necklace to wear and we drove over to McGuires for an Irish breakfast of eggs, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes & toast. It was great. Afterwards, we walked around the New River, and sat and talked on a park bench. He made me laugh so hard, that I thought my stitches from the surgery would re-open. We saw a couple taking wedding photos. Joey made me laugh so much my stomach hurt. Afterwards, we went to the Fishing pier on a Commercial Blvd. I had a clam chowder & coffee. We sat and walked on the pier. The weather was just perfect. We went home took a 2 hour nap then went to our favorite “Peking Duck” Chinese restaurant. We came home watched Suse Orman & went to bed. Nice relaxing day.

3/18/12

Woke up at 7:00 am and made Joey some coffee. We left the house after our one hour walk and ate at Seasons 52. I had a great duck salad & Joey had the salmon salad. Afterwards, we went to the Hard Rock Casino. Joey won $60.00 and I $15.00. It’s always better to leave that place with more money than you walked in with. Afterwards, we drove to Hollywood. We sat outside at our favorite coffee spot, “Chocolata”. It was so nice to sit outside and not be in any kind of rush. After that we walked across the street to the psychic reader. (Kelly) She told me that I would live to a ripe age of 89, money was coming my way & I would go back to work. Only God knows what is set before us. She also explained the importance of chakra balancing. I do believe, when the body is off balance, illness sets in and stress speeds up the rate of the illness. I’m starting to feel my balanced and positive now. I realize that I’m in a good place right now and have so much to look forward to. After that, I went with Joey to an Irish bar, drank a Harp beer and watched a basketball game. Joey was telling me how much he loved to play shuffle board. So many things to do, and not quite enough time. We drove home then at to eat at Sushi Masa. Sierra ed us for some pad thai. We all went to bed around 10:00pm.

3/19/12

Paul Joey & I walked for an hour. We saw Dr. O then went to eat at IHOP. Paul is helping me fill out disability form for work. I can be out up to 26 wks, and receive 60% of my pay plus health insurance. These are great benefits. We took Joey back to the airport. We had a great visit

3/20/12

Tues. We woke up, went for a walk and picked up my Mom & Dad from the airport. We came back to the beach house & ate a nice lunch at the Briny Pub. In the evening, we ate dinner at Maggiano’s. My parents are quite concerned about my health, and are staying to offer emotional .

3/21/12 Wed.

Got up at 7:00 am. Mom, my neighbor Jeannie, and I went for an hour walk around the neighborhood. I took my parents and Sierra to see a movie Blind Justice with Nicholas Cage. It was a great movie. Afterwards, we drove home and then to Fort Lauderdale. Afterwards, Jason S, Dave M, Dr. K, Paul & I had a meeting on wellness, and supplements. I want to get started in the Wellness industry. I’m sure that the body may lack certain essential minerals, which cause disease. Vitamin C & D3 are very important also in staying healthy. Afterwards, we had a meeting at Stingers. Irene and her husband are thinking about opening up Paul’s restaurant. Afterwards, we picked Mom & Dad up at the beach house, then went to La Veranda for dinner. Bob, Donna George & Leonard K. ed us. I had the red snapper & green beans. It was a very nice dinner.

3/22/12 Thurs.

We woke up, Paul Mom & I had an hour walk. Afterwards we drove to Deerfield to get Ponchita’s nails clipped and buy her a collar & leash. We picked up Alexis at the airport. She just came back from her Bahamas trip. Mom & I made chicken, broccoli, asparagus, salad & mashed potatoes for dinner. It was a good relaxing day with family. So glad to have Mom and Dad around.

3/23/12 Fri.

Had a nice breakfast in the morning. Went for an hour walk. Mom and I went to the mall to get Dad a birthday gift at Sears. I found a couple pair of jeans for $13.00 and Dad a nice silk shirt & socks. We went to Starbucks for banana mango smoothies. After that I took Mom & Dad to the Morakami Japanese gardens. We walked and enjoyed the tranquility. That evening we met Bob and Donna at Carlucci’s. Donna was wearing the same polo shirt as I. We often wear the same outfits. Then we saw the movie, “Hunger Games.” It was about 12 districts &12 teenagers in each district fighting to stay alive, and only one survivor would left alive. Peter & Katlin ended up surviving & falling in love. It was a great movie.

3/24/12 Sat

I woke up and my friend, Heidi picked Mom & I up to see Richard Roberts (Oral Robert’s son). He had an amazing healing service. I really enjoyed the music. He said the rapture would happen in our lifetime. Only God knows when. Afterwards, Mom, Joy, Heidi, Linda & I went to the Cheesecake factory for lunch. We had a great afternoon chatting. Mom left her collar in Joy’s car and we had to circle back. My Mom had spinal surgery a few months ago and wears a collar to keep her head stabilized. I told my mom that she should have a leash and collar so she doesn’t get lost. We came home around 3:00 & took a brief

nap. For Dad’s birthday, we took him to Uncle Tai’s restaurant. We had the red snapper, chicken with cashew nuts & asparagus. We sang to Dad, “Happy Birthday” then went across the street to Brio. At Brio, we sat outside at the bar. Donna, Mom and I sat outside together, and Paul, Bob & Dad had a drink. I had an amaretto and soda. We had a great night and took a lot of photos. Dad had a great birthday, “72” years strong.

Sunday 3/25/12

We slept in. This was the very first time that I slept throughout the night. The expanders hurt so much. I toss & turn frequently, because I can’t get comfortable. My chest always hurts and I have to lie on my back to sleep. Well, they say that sleeping on one’s back is good for wrinkles. One must suffer a bit to have nice breasts. I woke up feeling refreshed. I took Mom & Dad to get gas, car wash & subs at Lenny’s on Powerline. Afterwards, we went to the “Festival Flea” mkt. I bought a beautiful short haired blonde wig for 289.00. I think it looks better than the long colored wig. Afterwards, we came home, rested & got ready for dinner. We met Bob & Donna at the church of the Assumption for 5:30 mass. The priest was from Jamaica and gave a great sermon, about rising from the tomb & out into the light. Faith will take you out from darkness & into the “light”. After church, we all went to the Coconut Creek casino. Dad won $974.00 on the 7’s machine, I won $40 & Bob won $200 at Black Jack. We had the best dinner ever at NYY steak house. Bob & Dad had red snapper, as well as Donna & Mom. Paul & I had a steak with asparagus & salad. After dinner we ate a flaming volcano dessert. The bill came out to $500, and Dad treated us with his winnings. We had a fabulous time at the Coconut Creek Casino. We came home and saw the girls. Alexis was running a 102° fever. She said that she ate raw oysters in Fort Meyers. I stayed up late that night with her.

3/26/12 Monday.

Woke up, and make phone calls for the disability insurance. Dad and I went to the bank. Father transferred 1K into my for Alexis’s graduation gift. We then went to McDonalds for the vanilla cones & frappe’s. That night just Mom Dad & I went to Olive Garden for dinner. My favorite waiter, ABC, waited on us. I brought food home for Paul & the girls. The days are just flying by!

3/27/12 Tues.

We woke up and went for a walk. Mom & I went to Dr. Z. for an EKKO cardio of my heart. The test show that I have borderline mitro-valve pro lapse. Dr. Z said, not to be alarmed, because the valve isn’t giving me problems yet. I need to get checked before and after chemo, because they say that the chemo can damage the heart. My daughters should be examined for mitro valve pro lapse. Mom and I picked Dad up, went to McDonalds for our vanilla cones. I was craving eggs & bacon, so we made that for dinner. Sierra went to the gym & I stayed home with Alexis Dad & Paul.

3/28/12 Wed.

We woke up and went for a walk. I went to my Doctor, for blood tests. They are just preparing me for the chemo. Afterwards I took Mom & Dad to The Girls market for strawberry shakes. We walked outside and saw a big, beautiful white swan. It was so breathtaking. We watched the baby newborn swans which were so small. We came home & relaxed. That evening, we met Bob & Donna at the Peking Duck restaurant. After we went to the Pompano Isle casino for a drink. No gambling tonight.

3/29/12 Thurs.

Woke up, & Mom & I went for an hour walk. Afterwards, we went to the school to pick up Sierra. Sierra was in her class at school, and her friend Brooke, pulled the chair from underneath her. She thought that it would be hilarious to see Sierra fall on her behind. These are innocent pranks, which could prove dangerous. I took her to the MRI center for an X ray on her coccyx and sacrum. They couldn’t tell if she broke her coccyx. We sat outside, spoke with Evan, then took Mom & Dad to the airport. Great way for parents to end their stay. Such is life.

3/30/12 Fri.

I woke up & went to see my plastic surgeon, Dr. O. I plan on getting inflated to a size D. These expanders will get me prepared for breast reconstruction. Dr O puts a needle in my breast and into the expanders, where my chest is elevated. I guess this is so my chest will have a natural sloping effect. I deserve a nice rack after all of this. He inflated my chest with about 100 ccs of fluid. Afterwards I went home, and wrote a letter of special circumstance for Alexis’s college. Joy picked me up and we took Marissa to the mall to shop for flip flops. Afterwards, Joy & I went to the Grand Lux for appetizers. Afterwards, Lex, Sierra Brooke and I went to get over nails done. I chose pink for toes & nails & Alexis chose the french manicure for fingers & red for toes. The girls bought some Tory Burch purses that were stunning and I bought a white Tony Burch purse. Alexis & I went to the Green Gourmet to pick up my 2 pounds of wheat grass. I drink it every morning to build my immune system. I gag every time I try to drink the wheat grass. It’s horrible to drink, but supposedly cures cancer. Paul has to put the grass in the grinder every morning, to spit out a small glass of wheat grass. Uggh! Yuck. It makes me want to puke.

Sat. 3/30/12

Woke up & got out of bed at 10:00 am. I took Alexis, Sierra & Brooke to Too Jays for breakfast. I ate a healthy salad with orange juice. I’m upping my Vitamin C intake. Afterwards we got Alexis’s dress steamed for the prom & picked up the corsage. Afterwards, Paul embarked on a 2 hour walk with me. I felt 10x’s better after my walk. It elevates my mood & gives me a sense of wellbeing. We then went to Woodfield Country Club with Alexis and took many prom pictures. Alexis’s prom date was Robbie K. They both looked great together. Her dress was a long green teal color and her hair was pulled to the side & curled. The colorful rhinestone pins looked great in her hair. After photos Paul & I went to Joy LoBuono’s Dads 70th B-Day Party. We ate Italian food, listened to Claudio sing & conversed with Tracy & Heidi. It was a pleasant evening

Sunday 4/1/2012

Woke up. I took Sierra to Max’s restaurant in Mizner Park. Mizner is so quiet & pretty on the weekends. I had my eggs over easy & they (Sierra & Brooke) split an omelet. Sierra & Brooke helped me with the grocery shopping. I’m fatigued easily and feel weak when it comes to grocery shopping. I came home, unloaded the groceries, then Paul & I took an hour walk. Paul walked 2 additional hrs. Anika, Elizabeth & Jason came over to visit. We talked, looked at photos, talked about health & wellness and laughed a lot. We stayed home and watched TV. Sunday night.

Monday 4/2/12

Paul & I woke up, walked for 2 hours then went to Imperial Point hospital to install my chemo port. Radiologist, Dr. Linda H installed my port. This is just another contraption placed in my body to make sleeping more difficult. I know what they mean when they say “people can be so plastic” what if I bump this thing and the chord that leads up my neck gets twisted? I’ll just pretend it’s not there. We left & went to J Marx for a salad. There are so many, procedures &

experiments. I’m starting to feel like a science project. I came home and relaxed. Sierra said she had a rough night at work at Boardwalk Burgers. She said a customer got angry with a wrong order and threw the slip at her. She’s thinking about quitting the job. I told her to hang in there. Maybe that person was going through a difficult time. We never know what trials and tribulations others have.

Tues 4/3/12

Woke up and went for a walk. I went to my gynecologist appointment at 11:50 am. Dr. Z. said that I healed amazingly well. My cyst in my left ovary was 6 centimeters. I came home, went to Walgreens and picked up my prescription for EMEND. It was $150.00 out of pocket and $700 without insurance. I will take the EMEND 1 hour prior to treatment and then one pill in the morning for the next 2 days. I arrived with Paul for my consultation with Dr. S @ 3:45. We had a variety of questions that she answered quite well. We then came home & relaxed & went to bed.

Wed 4/4/12

I woke up walked felt a little nauseous from the combination of wheat grass and my usual grapefruit. I decided to lay off the grapefruit because it is high in acidic content. I have to stop eating grapefruit, because Vitamin C will counteract the chemo. We came home & got ready for The First Day of Chemo. We arrived at the Sandler Cancer Treatment Center treatment at 12:30. Elaine C., my good friend from BOA, greeted us and stayed throughout our treatment. Nurse Karen was very nice and explained how I was going to feel with the cytoxin and adriomicyn (red devil) We read books and chatted a lot. The chairs were very relaxing, with vibrating & heating mechanisms. Everyone has their own TV. The rooms are big, bright & very new. I was so impressed with the set up. Nurse, Karen istered the chemotherapy which wasn’t bad at all. We sat across from Priankah & Hitesh, her husband. Priankah, 29, was just finishing chemo,

then starting her bilateral mastectomy on April 26th.

I was so glad to “get the show on the road,” and get this process started. It’s so true, that once you endure all of this, there is nothing left to fear. Once one comes face to face, with the potential for death, nothing at all seems that serious. The problems become less consequential. The little things that we used to worry about, don’t really matter at all. The greatest & most precious gift in the world is life itself, and the beauty that it bestows upon us. After chemo, Paul and I went to Whole Foods and bought some very healthy meals for dinner & throughout the week. I remained in bed & relaxed for the night. I felt queasy & was up almost every two hours. I finally took benadryl at 4:00 am & slept until 9:00 am.

4/5/12

After waking up, I ate some steel cut oatmeal, did some computer work and reading for the afternoon. The anti-nausea medication helped me quite a bit. At 4:00 pm, we went for my shot of Neulasta which is needed to build up my white blood cell count. Without my insurance, the shot would have cost me $7,000. It’s an expensive shot but very important to build up the WBC. Next week will be a great without all these Dr appointments. Looking forward to having a free week.

Fri 4/6/12

I woke in the morning, and drove with Alexis to FIU. We signed up for her dorms, & issions. She accepted her Bright Futures & grants. For Fall Alexis got 1750 Dir. Sub loan, $1,000 unsubsidized loan, $ 1,140—Bright Futures & $1,000 leverage grant. The Spring will be the exact same type of funding. We checked out the dorms. Alexis wants to stay with her friends at the Lakeview dorms. We had a bagel & smoothie with Alexis. We were so happy that we were

able to accomplish everything that we set out to do. I’m so happy that Alexis will be staying in the dorms, but not too far away from me. I had to rest a bit. The nausea from the chemo made me feel a bit ill. When undergoing chemotherapy, they say patients experience chemo fog. I felt as if I was in a fog just wandering around campus. The only thing that helps with the nausea is food, and lots of it. I have cravings for pizza with pineapple. It’s like I’m pregnant again. I went home & stayed in for the rest of the night. This too shall .

4/7/12 SAT.

I stayed at home most of the day. I’m trying so hard to remain positive & regain my inner strength. I’m trying to think of the adriomycin “red devil” & cytoxin as a cleansing ritual to get rid of any stray cancer particles that may still reside within my body. God give me the strength to keep on going. I did go for a 45 minute walk with Paul. I actually felt a bit better after the walk. We got ready & met Bob and Donna at the “Council Oaks” restaurant at The Hard Rock Casino. I split a halibut with Paul. We also ate asparagus and spinach & salad. For dessert, we ate fresh berries w/ vanilla ice cream. After dinner we saw the 7:30 show, Le Cirque, Pop goes the rock. The young acrobatics were very good. We went home around 10:00pm, because the casino was quite crowded.

4/8/12 Sunday.

In the morning, the girls found their Easter baskets & Easter eggs with hidden money. Alexis found all the eggs with money, but split her findings with Sierra. I took a shower & did some light house cleaning. Paul was watching an old Tom Cruise “military” movie. I rested trying to fight the nausea throughout the day. Alexis went to work at the water park, and Sierra went to Chelsea’s house. Paul, Alexis & I went to Duffy’s restaurant. Paul & I drove down to Bob & Donna’s for Easter dinner. We had a delicious rack of lamb, with mint, salad, potatoes & grilled asparagus. I slept on the couch immediately after dinner. I could not sit &

chat at the table any longer. I grew more nauseous with all the chatter. Around 9:00 pm, Donna & I took a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood. It was a very relaxing Easter.

4/9/12 Monday.

I relaxed in the morning, and went to Publix to get remedies for Alexis’s tonsillitis. She’s been suffering from an inflamed throat. Around lunch time Joy came to pick me up to take me out to lunch with Heidi. We ate a salad & flatbread at Brio. We sat & talked until it was too hot to bear the sunlight. That afternoon, Sierra & I went to the Gym. It’s been 2 months since I stepped foot in the gym. Sierra & I did light abs & weights. Just going to the gym made me feel like my old self again. We then went to the mall & bought a white dress for Sierra’s 17th birthday party at the Guess store. She wants to have an early party in April for her July 18th B-day. The dress looked elegant, longer on one side, & flowing white. She was ecstatic with the purchase. We took pizza home & relaxed.

4/10/12 Tues.

I woke up early, ate breakfast. I got a smoothie & drove to the beach on Palmetto Park Road. I felt tranquil on the beach. Everyone who ed me said good morning. There were boot camps and Tai Chi classes on the beach. A sense of harmony & “oneness” accompanied me on the beach. I can’t say, as Lance Armstrong said in his book, that cancer was the best thing that happened to him, but I would have never had the time to walk on the beach on a Tuesday morning. I’m delighting in the simple thing in life. We must not take for granted these ordinary & extraordinary beauties in life. I definitely am not glad that I got breast cancer, but it has given me the opportunity to slow down & enjoy the simplicities in life.

4/11/12 Wed.

I woke up & took my car to the JM Lexus dealer. I have an oxygen sensor that needs replacing. It would cost 500 for one sensor, and I will eventually trade the car in. In the afternoon, Alexis & I went to the Olive Garden & ate a great wheat pasta, soup & salad. Our friend & waiter, ABC, sat with us while we ate. He never wants us to pay for our meals. Afterwards I went to my cancer group from 5:30-6:30 pm. The nurse, Darcy, mentioned cold caps, where you may save hair from falling out by putting a freezing cap on the skull. Unfortunately, I already had my first treatment, so it looks like there will be hair falling out. I spent hours researching cold caps, in an effort to save my hair. One must buy dry ice and keep the caps stored at below freezing. They are placed on my head every 2-3 hours, so the chemo doesn’t destroy my hair. They are more popular in Europe. Afterwards, I walked around the mall with Alexis. It was a relaxing day.

Thurs 4/12/12

I got up early, got dressed & picked up Lizette at her home. We drove to Denny’s and ate pancakes, eggs over easy, hash browns & bacon. Lizette had the same thing, but blueberry pancakes instead. She brought her Barbie doll and sat her right at the table with us. Next time, I will bring my barbies, so we can play with our barbie dolls together. People will think we are nuts, but who cares! We went to the beach walked for 30 minutes, then I dipped in the water. I met a man by the name of Vinne who performed comedy at the Improv. We had a nice spiritual connection. He said that my blue eyes looked like angel eyes. Lizette was on the beach talking with Bill. That afternoon Lupe came over brought me a pink cancer bracelet. We went to Duffy’s for dinner. I drank a white wine. I probably should not have had it, because I experienced bone pain throughout the night.

Friday: 4/13/12

I got up ate my steel cut oatmeal, & we purchased tickets for Dan & Jessica’s wedding. We are flying to Niagara Falls from July 16-23rd. I’m looking forward to going back home. I ran some errands with Paul then we went to Cinemarx movie theater. We saw three movies, “Cabin in the Woods”, “Clash of the Titans” and The 3 Stooges. We were there from 4:30-9:00 pm We also finished of 2 tubs of popcorn. It was a relaxing afternoon.

SAT 4/14/12

I went with Sierra in the afternoon and bought her shoes for the prom. She chose white & beige Jessica Simpson shoes. I bought a high heel pair of leopard shoes. They are so tall, but comfortable. After the mall, we met my friend “Pinky” at Seasons 52. Sierra had a turkey burger & I had a salad with a lot of asparagus. I’ve been eating very healthy lately. Pinky is a child psychologist. She agreed to give Sierra some counseling. After that we went home & my friend Joy picked me up. She, Marissa & I went to see the movie American Reunion. It was hilarious, but a bit too much for a teenager. Four movies in one weekend. Quite a bit, but relaxing. I came home & went to bed

Sun 4/15/12

Sierra & I went to Costco in the afternoon, we bought a lot of healthy & delicious food. I made a nice dinner of salmon, chicken asparagus & mashed potatoes Another good day. Happy to be alive and thankful for these great days.

Monday 4/16/12

I ran errands all day with Paul. We met up with Paul’s office manager, Donna & talked for a while. Paul took me to a Thai restaurant & I ate my favorite, Tomgaki soup & a nice green salad. We came home & I went with Alexis & Sierra to the gym. We participated in a latin impact class. I really enjoyed the class. Earlier in the day, I ran & walked for an hour & a half. I feel exercise keeps us mentally & physically in balance, & makes us feel better as well. Another industrious day.

4/17/12 Tues.

I had to get up early to visit my plastic surgeon, Dr. O. He filled me up with 100 CC’s of saline for my breast. It looks great & I am definitely seeing the results. Afterwards I met with nurse Priscilla. She said I was doing great. I then went to my old job at Bank of America. I talked with Virginia, Erica, Bernie, Philippe & Melissa. Everyone was doing great. We had a nice asian chicken salad at Brewzzi’s, then did paperwork at library. I made organic ravioli w/ spinach for dinner. It was delicious.

Wed 4/18/12 Wed

Paul & I went for our hour walk, then we prepared for my second chemotherapy treatment. Paul brought with him three elasto-gel caps a cooler & dry ice. The elasto gel cups are supposed to preserve my hair from falling out. We got there at 11:45 and started treatment at 12:00. Nurse Karen was nice. I watched TV & Paul exchanged caps every 25-30 minutes. One nice lady named Felice came up & talked to me about her lung cancer. She said just to keep going & don’t stop. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I’ve been so busy through all of this. A

counselor named “Darcy” came over to us & ed about how “positive” I was when I went for the cancer group. She said that when most women are diagnosed, they are consumed with “fear” and that I wasn’t. I took it in stride, and I am following the protocol so well. She’s the lady who mentioned the gel caps at the meeting. The girls, Alexis, Sierra & Carly came to visit with me. The time just flew by so quickly. I made it home & relaxed, then went to gym with Sierra.

4/19/12 Thursday.

I got up read for a bit. I met Debbie N. (Donna’s friend) at the mall. We went to the Boca Bridge hotel for lunch. We both had the glazed salmon over a bed of vegetables. It was so delicious. We talked about ourselves & relaxed by the water. There was a little boy catching snapper right next to us. I came home for a little bit, then went over to Mizner Park to meet Jason S. We had a coffee at Starbucks, then we went to Sugar Sand Park for meditation. I really felt that I did benefit from being in a very tranquil location in the woods. Jason brought his brass pot & banged on it on either side of my ear. He taught me breathing techniques. I would like to start teaching breathing & energy healing on the beach. It would be so much better than going back to my current career. After meditation, we both went to Whole Foods I bought cucumber, kale, green apples & celery to make a green drink. I’m experimenting with all kinds of natural foods & drinks.

4/20/12 Friday (The 2nd Day after chemo is always the worst)

Friday am. I felt so sick & nauseas, that I rested most of the day. Sierra went to get her hair done for the prom at 3:30. Paul & I drove her to Delray at 6:00 to take photos at Parker’s house. Her date was Will V. He was a very nice young man. She pinned a yellow rose on his jacket, & Will give her a wristband with yellow flowers. We got up at 4:00 am to pick her up at the Homestead Estates.

Alexis came home at 5:00 am from her Senior grad bash. It was a sleepless night.

Sat 4/21/12.

I spent most of the day in bed, fighting the nausea. I did my usual reading & phone calls. It takes a lot of continuous meals to fight the nausea. It’s almost as if I was pregnant. I really do not want to gain too much weight.

Sun 4/22/12.

I woke up went for an hour walk with Paul. It was so cool, due to all the rain we’ve been getting. Joy picked me up in the afternoon. It was raining on & off. We split a shrimp, BLT at the Cheesecake factory, and sat & talked about a Wellness/Weight Loss business. Around 4:00 pm, Paul & I got ready to meet Bob & Donna at the Assumption church. I wore my blonde wig & black dress with the pink scarf. Church was uplifting & pleasant. Afterwards we ate outside at the Sea Gate hotel in Delray Beach. We ate crispy snapper, veggies, spinach & sweet potato fries. For dessert we split a pineapple cake & hot fudge sundae. It was a great Sunday.

4/23/12 Monday.

I was feeling a little bit better. We stayed in bed & watched a movie. We took a quick ride up to Paul’s office in Ft. Laud. I called Chase & they said on June 4th, they would get the paperwork from my oncologist, Dr. S, & then extend my leave of absence to “hopefully” Sept 1st. I just can’t see myself working during

this time. My mind & body need to be healthy to rid any cancer cells, and there are days where I really can’t do much.

4/24/12

Tues morning. I woke up & made a grilled cheese sandwich on the George Forman for the girls. Sierra called at 7:30 am to tell me that she had a flat tire. It never fails. The tow truck came & towed the car to Sears at the Town Center Mall. That evening I took the girls to Bonefish grill for dinner. We enjoyed the time together

4/25/12 Wed.

I woke up had a good breakfast. Had Sierra’s car towed to Drew’s. In the afternoon I went with Paul to the office. We meet Elizabeth who is working on a wellness center. I left around 4:30, then drove to get ready to pick up Lizette. We went to a Spanish tapas restaurant. We had a glass of wine & Spanish potatoes & soup. Afterwards we went to Mortons for a cappucino & a bunch more laughs. We always have great time together. Sometimes we pretend that we are partners. She makes me laugh so hard that I cry.

Thurs 4/26/12

I got up and ate a great breakfast. I met my very good friend Scott, for lunch at Seasons 52. We walked in, & grabbed a booth near the bar. We talked about my business ideas & Scotts new business ventures. His ideas are: www.findfame.com, www.sexygirljewelry.com & a new natural health food bar.

He has some great ideas, along with his existing business Americheck USA.com. His main business does background screening for apartment rentals & employment. We spoke with Bernie K on the phone. Bernie asked me if I could help him with his executive jet travel business. He invited us down to the Coconut Creek Casino for the game show “The Price Is Right” We weren’t chosen as contestants, but we did have a great time watching the show. We both left & went home. I’ve known Scott for 10 years. Everything seems the same, like no time has even ed by. We used to date a bit, right after I got my divorce 10 years ago. He was a lot of fun & we enjoyed concerts & jet skiing. It’s amazing how time flies by so quickly

Fri 4/27/12.

I got up spoke with my friends on the phone and met my old manager from Bank of America, Virginia, for lunch at Season’s 52. It seems to be the popular eating place lately. We enjoyed talking about family & friends. I’m sure stress does a lot to all of us. Stress is inevitable, but there are many things we can do to control it. Later, I drove Sierra to pick up her 72 Cobra mustang at the shop. She needed a new alternator and had another flat tire. That evening, we met Bob & Donna at Carlucci’s for dinner and then a movie. We saw the movie, “the Raven” starring John Cusack as Edgar Alan Poe. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Enjoyable night!

SAT 4/28/12

I did my usual grocery shopping at Publix. I’ve been buying very healthy foods & fruits & vegetables. I met my friend Jason S. at a Conference at Lynn University. We attended a seminar on sales. It was pretty good. Jason has been helping me with Vitamins & meditation. Afterwards, we got ready for Sierra’s dinner party at TATU, at the Hardrock Casino. Alexis, Sierra & all of her friends ate at one table & Bob & Donna & Paul & I ate at a separate table. Sierra wore a

beautiful white dress from Guess, & her all her girlfriends wore black dresses. Afterwards, Paul, I, Bob & Donna went to Council Oaks. We sat at the bar & listened to a great performance. The gentleman who was singing, interacted with everyone in the dance floor and the patrons at the bar. I would love to go back to the Council Oaks on a Sat night for entertainment. It would be nice to stay overnight at the Hard Rock

4/29/12 Sunday

I took it easy the entire morning & afternoon. I walked 30 minutes on the treill. I should use the treill on the patio, and keep in shape. In the afternoon around 5:00 pm, we went to Jonathan’s condo for his 58th birthday. Rose made pasta w/ chicken piccata, salad & tiramisu cake. We had a great time. Paul’s dad George ate well. He will be 100 years old July 10th. Afterwards we met Bob & Donna, and went to eat at La Veranda. We ate light after having such a big meal w/ Jonathan.

April 30 Mon

The girls skipped school on this rainy Monday morning. We went to get Alexis’s laptop fixed. Her screen was shattered, After that we went to the Gulf Stream park in Hallandale. It was pouring so hard that the horse races were cancelled. After that we went to the Sawgrass Mall. We walked around to the specialty shops. Alexis bought a beautiful Michael Kors bag for $220. She can use the bag on her modeling assignments. We then went to the Coach store & walked around the mall. I bought a pair of tangerine shoes & big brown purse for Daniel’s weddings. We then ate lunch at “Paul” French restaurant. We had a great day shopping. The girls went to the gym & I rested in bed.

Monday April 31st

I met with Dr. O & he inflated my chest a little more. We had a great laugh about the chemo-fog & Paul not allowing me to drive. I then spent 2 hours looking for the miracle pill “Emend.” Nobody had it in stock. I finally found the last pack at Walmart, & it was $100.00 instead of $150.00 I then went with Paul to Dr. S’s office. We told her that I was taking the metforman, which is used for diabetes, but kills cancer stem cell growth. Anything we can do for this not to come back is great. After Paul & I went to the Miller Ale house. We split a steak & broccoli. After that we saw 21 Jump Shot was a funny movie about undercover high school students, busting a drug ring.

Tues May 1st

I didn’t sleep so well. Just getting geared up for tomorrow’s chemo treatment. It was more of a quiet day.

Wed: May 2nd.

Paul & I did our 1 hour walk, then went for chemo from 11:45-2:45. The girls met up with us and I took them to Chipotle. Afterwards Paul & I met Bob & Donna on a nice dinner at Ruth Chris. We had a great steak & spinach dinner. For dessert we had a banana cream pie, ice cream & raspberry sorbet. It was great.

Thurs 5/3/12

I got up took a walk, then met Donna at the Festival Flea Market. Donna bought 3 full wig for her hair. They are darker and look very nice. I went to the wellness center & got my neulasta shot to build up my white blood cells. After that, Paul & I met with Dan from Fidelity to review Paul’s stock portfolio. We came home & Paul made a spaghetti & chicken piccata dinner for me.

5/4/12

Friday came so quickly. In the afternoon Paul & I met with JB & his wife Needa. We met at the Bombay Indian restaurant. We enjoyed a multitude of different Indian dishes like chickpea & tomatoes, spinach & chicken, & rice. I had a great mango & yogurt drink, called mango lasee, & masala tea (with ginger). The ginger tea helps with nausea. We met up with Bob & Donna at Carlucci’s. I couldn’t bear to eat anymore after the Indian food. We tried to see the Avengers (movie) but it was sold out in 2 locations.

Sierra & I did our weekly grocery shopping, went to the bank then I met Jason S & Dr. Don N who is a dentist in Boca. He uses different gem stones to create a relaxed atmosphere with his dental patients. We had several nice discussions, then I went home to relax. Not feeling too well with the chemo this weekend. My body feels blah & lifeless, but my mind is remaining very positive!

5/6/12 Sunday

I got up ate breakfast with Sierra at Panera bread. In the afternoon at 12:30 I picked Lizette up, then she drove to the Sunfest in West Palm Beach. We went to see the “Pitbull” concert. We parked & walked several blocks to the outdoor stadium. The concert was great & “Pitbull” looked as cute as ever. The outside temperature must have been at least 98°. I was sweating profusely, but did not complain. After the concert, we found a Kava (coffee) bar to escape from the dreaded heat. After the concert, we went for dinner at the “Havana” cuban restaurant. I had arroz con pollo, mango drink & we split a flan for dessert. The food was great. Lizette is always fun to be with, and we’ve grown to be close friends over the years. Great concert and a great time.

I just did a lot of reading in the afternoon, then took Alexis to the “Baja” mexican restaurant for lunch. Alexis had the enchiladas & I had some fish tacos & beans and rice. I helped Alexis find a dress at Macy’s for graduation. It’s a pretty, brown lacy, dress.

5/8/12 Tues

It was Alexis’s last day of school. Unbelievable! Where did all the 18 years go? Time flies by so quickly. In the afternoon, I did a weight & abs class. I didn’t push myself & I used lighter weights. I need to build up my strength. At 5:00 Alexis & I went to a Maggiano’s dinner and seminar on “Crowd Gatherers”. It’s a site like Facebook. The speaker was looking for investors to help fund his enterprise. I started working with Bernie K. & took a few travel courses on line. I do like the travel & wellness industry.

WED 5/9/12

After Alexis woke up, we went out for our usual egg breakfast at Dennys. I had eggs over easy & waffles. Alexis had her eggs over easy as well. Lizette & I went to the mall. She bought a beautiful chocolate diamond cocktail ring. I picked out a beautiful ruby ring on sale for Mother’s Day. Lizette put $60 down on the ring because she loved it. She told me that it was a must have. I’m thinking that Paul & the girls should get it for me for Mother’s Day. It does look very beautiful. That evening. I went with the girls to Bogart’s at Muvico for the cross country track dinner. I sat next to Ellen S’s mom. She said that she heard I had breast cancer. News travels fast. I explained to her the importance of early detection and screenings. I had a plate full of vegetables, salad & grilled & glazed salmon. Alexis received a trophy for the most outstanding senior track runner. Sierra received her certificate & tee shirt. It was a great memorable cross country dinner.

Thurs 5/10/12

I spent the afternoon taking a travel course and booked an 8 day cruise on Carnival. It travels to Grand Turks, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas & St. Maarten. It leaves Port Everglades & we paid 2k a piece (Paul & I) for the cruise. What a great deal. Looking forward to the cruise June 16-23. I also exchanged my cache tangerine dress & bought one online for Jessica’s wedding. That night, Lizette, Alexis & I went for dinner at the Olive Garden. My favorite waiter, ABC took great care of us! The food always tastes better when served with a smile.

I watched a video called “Eating.” It shows that people eating a plant based diet are less likely to develop certain cancers. I’m definitely increasing my fresh vegetable intake & plan on reducing meats in my diet. I do believe that nutrition

plays a big role in the rate of recurrence & cancer survival. In the evening, Paul & I went to the new IPIC theater in Mizner. We sat in recliner chairs with blankets & watched the avengers.

Mothers Day! Paul, Alexis Sierra & Lizette bought me a beautiful ruby ring with diamonds for Mother’s Day. ( I picked it out) The girls also bought me a dozen roses with candy & a beautiful homemade card. In the afternoon, we went to Assumption church in Ft. Lauderdale. We met Bob & Donna there. Afterwards, Paul the girls & I went to “The Charter house” near Paul’s restaurant for dinner. We ate a great dinner, sat outside & watched the boat’s by on the intracoastal. It was a wonderful Mother’s Day

I took Alexis to Dr. O. for her immunization shots for college. She got the gardicil shot, MMR & hepatitis shot. She will be leaving for college at the end of August.

I had an 11:15 am appointment with nurse Priscilla Lawrence. They took my blood count. It looks like the WBC (white blood cell) is good & the red blood cell count is a little low. After, Paul & I did our usual Tues. movie marathon. We saw dark shadows & The Five Year engagement. The 5 year engagement, was a great love story.

5/16/12 Wed.

Chemo Day—Arrived at the Lynn Cancer Center at 9:45 & had my 4th & last treatment of adricomycin, cytoxin. I was there for 3 hours. Afterwards, we met at Miller Ale house. Alexis came down to see & eat with us. We had ossobucco, broccoli & mashed potatoes. Alexis had salad & lobster bisque. Another treatment done. I’m halfway through this stuff. Can’t wait till I’m finished.

Thurs 5/17/12

Graduation day for Alexis. I went to get my shot of neulastin before the graduation ceremony. We left the house at 2:30. Anika & Jason ed Paul Sierra & I at the South Florida Fairgrounds. After the ceremony Bob & Donna, Jason & Anika met us all at Ruth Chris Steakhouse for a great steak dinner. Anika bought Alexis Egyptian cotton bedsheets for her dorm. I can’t believe my baby is 18, graduated from highschool, and going to college for nursing. I am so proud of her.

Fri 5/18/12

Paul, Leonard & I met Jennifer Yu at the Forever Young Wellness center in Boca. I’m thinking about purchasing a wellness center. She was asking 12,900 & the lease is $1700/month. The center is small & currently not in operation. Paul wants me to focus on my recovery before I start any new endeavors. Jennifer is running a restaurant & hurt her shoulder. She has no time for the wellness center. After meeting w/ Jennifer we went next door to Renzo’s, had appetizers & spoke about the wellness business. That evening, we met Bob & Donna at the Cypress movie theater to watch Battleship. I wasn’t feeling very well. I was aching all over from the chemo treatment. Paul & Donna were rubbing my neck to help alleviate the pain. I went home w/ Paul. I managed to sleep a little during the movies.

5/19/12

Joey’s plane came in at 10:10. I picked him up at the Ft. Laud. airport, and we proceeded to The Gulfstream racetrack in Hollywood. It was raining quite hard so we remained inside the casino played “Playboy”, “Monopoly” & “Cleopatra” & did well with “Monopoly” & “Cleopatra.” We both came out there with at least $75 ahead. After gambling, we went to Christine Lee’s gourmet Chinese Food restaurant. We shared wonton soup & cashew chicken, & hot tea. Joey had to get the car because it was raining so hard. After that, Joey went for a haircut & then we went to Macy’s at the mall. Joey bought 2 dress shirts & I bought a pair of coach loafers at Macy’s. We then bought dinner at Sal’s Italian restaurant & watched the video “thrive” together. It was a wonderful day.

We got up early & went to a hypnosis class at Delray Beach’s center for Alternative medicine. We did regression therapy to where we were on a beach

imagining that we were children playing in the sand. The teacher told everyone that we all need to find our inner child. We often take life too seriously & need to relax more. After the session, Joey & I ate crepes, then walked up & down Atlantic Ave. In the afternoon, we went to 5:30 mass at Assumption church, then Uncle Tais for dinner. Bob & Donna ed us for dinner. I was tired, went home & to bed.

5/21/12 Monday

Paul woke us all up around 4:00 am, making a racket in the kitchen. I think he was mad that Alexis woke him up at 2:00 am. I did get up at 5:00 am to take Joey to the airport. We went to Dennys in Boca, ate a veggie omelet, then I dropped him off at 6:30 am. I then went home & went to bed for the afternoon.

5/22/12 Tues

I met Lizette at her home, and we went together to Costco. I bought watermelon, raspberries black berries, energy bars, mango juice & coffee cakes, & marghareta pizza. We’ve had so much rain this season. Afterwards Lizette showed me her clubhouse, where I can integrate meditation, hypnosis & laughter therapy. I would love to start doing my wellness programs soon. In the afternoon I met my friend, Pinky for dinner at J. Alexanders. I had a nice salad & carrot cake for dessert. We also talked about wellness and both of our experiences. She had an awful car accident which left her with a metal rod in her leg. a plate in her face & many plastic surgeries. She is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met.

Wed 5/23/12

Artie & Bernie invited me to a luncheon at Maggianos. I sat next to Bernie, Vinnie & Wendy. Wendy had stage 2 breast cancer with, no positive lymph nodes. She didn’t go through chemo, but her oncotype DX was a 30. This shows that she has a 20% chance of occurrence. We talked during the discussion on electric cars, and Artie had to shush us. He was so funny. Afterwards I went home, then to the office in Ft. Lauderdale. At 4:30 I met with Valentina, a Ukranian woman who does energy auras and laser healing through magnetic currents. We worked together for 4 hours & decided to start working together next week on wellness at Paul’s office. We will get a massage table & use the front office space to work. I will meet with her Monday or Tuesday. Paul & I were both very fatigued after the office & went home.

Thurs 5/24/12

Just a day of rest. I met Scott at the mall & gave him his tape back on eating. It has to do with foods & cancer. I declined to meet up with Donna at the Festival Flee Market, Bernies luncheon & Lizette at the Spaniards restaurant. I’ve been running around too much & this 4th chemo treatment was rough. My body needs to rejuvenate and heals from all these chemicals in my body.

Fri 5/25/12

I went to Dr O’s office in the morning, and he was able to inflate my chest 100 CC’s. They are getting bigger & nicer. I still can’t wait till I get my nipples in August. I’m getting used to this new body. After the Dr’s appointment, I met my friend, Wendy M at Season’s 52 for lunch. She had stage 2 breast cancer last year. It wasn’t in her lymph nodes, so she didn’t opt for the chemo, radiation or Arimidex pills. She had her right breast removed after 5 unsuccessful lumpectomies. After lunch, I went with Paul to meet Bob & Donna at Carlucci’s.

Afterwards we saw Men in Black II at the Cypress movie theater. It was a fine Friday.

SAT 5/26/12

I got up & went with Sierra to get wiper blades for her 74 mustang. We dropped the car off in Boca, then had lunch at Panera Bread. After I went home & she went to the beach w/ Brooke. Someone hit Brooke (not her fault) on the left hand side of the car. Sierra had her I phone stolen in the bathroom of the beach. I guess it just wasn’t her day. Paul had a blowout with her, regarding her attitude. She is very crabby in the morning. We stayed in Sat night & made dinner

Sun 5/27/12

I met my friend, Elaine C. for breakfast at Tom Sawyers in Boca Raton. We caught up on everything & had a great breakfast of croissant French toast, eggs bacon, toast & coffee. I ate half & brought the rest back for Sierra. That afternoon, I stayed around the house. We were leaving for church & there was a big rain storm, so we skipped church & met Bob & Donna for dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Ft. Laud. They invited us to go with them to Nice , Aug 29th for Paul & Donna’s birthday. I think that would be so much fun. We also talked about Sierra and her behavior. I think it’s a bad idea for her to live with her Father for her Senior year. She seems to need direction in her life. Teenagers can be challenging. After dinner, we came home and I had a nice talk with her. She said that she would be more respectful to us in the morning and do her chores. Let’s hope for the best.

Mon 5/28/12

Pretty much took it easy for the day. It was Memorial day. I got my reading done. In the evening, I took Alexis for a steak at Outback.

Tues 5/29/12

I took Alexis with me to the Doctor. The PA Julie G took care of me. I asked her if we can get my oncotype DX score. This would allow me to know what my recurrence rate would be. The tissue would be sent to California to be analyzed. Imperial point hospital would keep my tissue for up to 15 yrs. I also suggested a bone density test. This way I would know if I have osteoporosis. Afterwards we went shopping at the mall. We looked for a comforter at Macys for her dorm room. We still have to buy the fridge, printer, and desk. Glad I’m here to help her.

Wed 5/30/12

(All day infusion taxol 11-5:30 pm) The effects of taxol are numbing of the feet and extremities. No Emend needed, because nausea isn’t a side effect.

Thursday 5/31/12

I got dressed up, wore my nice tangerine dress, shoes & orange moonstone necklace. Paul & I drove over to Ft. Lauderdale where he gave a speech on diabetes. I started getting aches & pains in my toes & feet. This new drug taxol was supposed to be easier than the adriomycin cytoxin. I suffered bone pain.

6/1/12

Fri I got up & was feeling ok. I scheduled a massage for myself & Alexis at Elements. The girl “Deborah” had the same birthday as myself “March 10”,as well as the girl in the front of the office. I had so much pain in my neck & lower back. It was a very good massage. I must be tense the night before I have treatments. Later, Valentina came over to do the quantum laser therapy on me and the aura cleansing. She stayed from 1pm-10:00 pm. Afterwards Paul & I took her to PEI WEI for dinner. I could barely walk, my legs were aching & my toes hurt badly. I think that they need to lower my dosage of taxol.

SAT 6/2/12

I got up & went with Sierra to Las Olas. We walked a little bit, then had lunch at Cafe Europa. Later on, Alexis & I went to “The Village” to have dinner & watch Sierra waitress. I had the yogurt & cucumber and Alexis had the Greek salad. The humus, pita & baklava were good. Later on Paul & I saw the movie Chernobyl at Muvico. It was a great movie taking place in Russia with the radioactive fallout & creatures trying to kill the group of young adventure seekers.

Sunday 6/2/12

I stayed in most of the day due to the body pain. In the afternoon I went & bought a comfortable pair of sneakers, went to the Secret Garden for a dress, shirt & sandals (green) then Target for groceries. For dinner I made a nice salmon & mashed potatoes, then tomatoes with cheese. The salmon had crab

meat inside & it was delicious I watched the biggest loser. I was so proud of the man and his determination to lose weight. Anything can be achieved with the right attitude and discipline.

Mon 6/3/12

Spoke with Michelle L. from Chase disability. She needs me to return to work by Aug. 31st. That is my last day of the 26 week short-term disability. I’m thinking about going back to work. If not, I know that I will find something in the Wellness arena.

6/4/12

Went to visit nurse practitioner, Priscilla. We told her that the taxol was giving me lower extremity tingling. My shingles were bad & the toe pain bad. She thinks that it could have been the shot of Neulasta. I was given the option of having weekly chemo, but I refused. I only have 3 more treatments. After our appointment, we met Fred S., who will help Paul with his MSO, for his able care organization. I had a salad with steak. I’m eating salads & fresh fruits & vegetables every day. I do feel that my body is much healthier. After lunch we met with Dr. A to pick up the laser pulse hair removal machine. He is going to away on Friday. This machine would be great in the Wellness Center.

WED 6/6/12

I took Alexis to the IPIC movie theater at Mizner Park. We watched Snow White & the Huntsman with Charlize Theron & Kristen Stewart. We layed in recliner

seats & ordered salads while we watched the movie. Afterwards, we went out for ice cream in Mizner Park. It was very relaxing. That evening at 6:00 pm, I met Pinky & her Dad, Pravin at Houston’s restaurant. We talked about our ideas for the Wellness business. Pravin lives in Kenya & will be back in 3 mos. He would like to invest in a new business.

Thurs 6/7/12

At 12:30 in the afternoon I met Patty B at her house for energy healing. I layed down on the massage table. She never touched my body, but I could feel the heat of her hands heal me. It was a very relaxing hour. I felt like I was in a dream state for the hour. At 3:30 Carlo came over. He made us a salad, steak grilled brussel sprouts & mashed potatoes for dinner, which was excellent. The girls enjoyed it. We have enough salad to last for a few days.

6/8 Friday

I made it to the zumba class at Lifetime fitness in the morning. Sierra came with me and did half the class & abs afterwards. In the afternoon, Alexis & I went to Costco. I bought the turkey sausage & turkey meatballs that she likes. We drove over to the DMV, but it was closed. Stayed in Friday night. These outings tire me out.

SAT 6/9/12

I went with Paul to the Westin hotel in Ft. Lauderdale to attend a nu skin seminar. Valentina & Brad also attended the mtg. They have a device that

measures the toxicity level in the body. The lowest levels are red orange— yellow—green blue (being highest) I was amazed that I scored a 31,000 (yellow) & Paul scored a 32,000. This is from eating a plant based diet, high in antioxidants. I feel this diet is making my body less toxic, despite all the chemo that I’ve been receiving. We talked with Brad & Valentina about our Wellness afterwards. After Paul & I got a salad on Atlantic Blvd in Pompano.

Sunday 6/10/12.

I did my grocery shopping at Publix in Deerfield. Then I went to the Secret Garden & bought myself a beautiful green sequined belt, & matching green shirt & sandals. I also got a beautiful black & red cache top. I just relaxed & made a healthy salad for dinner

Monday 6/11/12

I did a body works & abs class with my friend, Pinky at 8:30 am. The class was great. I know that I lost tissue & muscle strength, so I used 2½ & 5 lb weights, instead of my usual 5lb & 10lb weights. My goal is to take some time after chemo to rebuild my body back to the way I was. It feels great to exercise again. The normal routines are so wonderful, they make me feel like my old self again. I went home & worked on my long term disability papers. I hope to be able to go back Nov 1st. I need a few more months to regain strength & my plastic surgeon told me that I would have to wait 6-8 wks after chemo for reconstruction.

Tuesday 6/12/12

I went to another body works & abs class at 9:45 am. This time I wasn’t as dizzy and as exhausted as yesterday’s workout. I may be building up my strength & endurance. At 12:00 I went to my Healing Touch buddies massage with Patti. She was able to clear my sacral chakra. She also said that she saw an image of me in a barn with 2 grandchildren. She also saw a pink light envelope me, herself, and the entire house that we were in. The pink light signified the love of God surrounding us. I think that Patti definitely has the healing touch. She doesn’t touch my body, but her hands are energized with warmth that penetrates through & into my body. This great gift is called Reiki healing. At 2:45, Paul & I went to meet with Dr. S. We spoke about how taxing the taxol has been on my body. She suggested weekly chemo in lower dosages, but I’m totally against it. I like the biweekly schedule that I’m on. I can plan events in between my treatments. I experienced toe pain & bone pain with the last taxol treatment. We are going to reduce my nuelastin shot to 6. She thinks that dosage could have contributed to the bone pain. She also said that my recurrence rate should be reduced from 30% to 15% after my chemo treatments. This is very reassuring. It will not come back, because I don’t get stressed out like I used to, after going through all of this. It has definitely made me stronger.

6/13/12

All day chemo Wednesday. Paul & I made it to the Lynn Cancer institute at 10:00 am & stayed until 3:30. The time went by pretty quickly. Sierra & her friend Brooke came by with chicken & lettuce wraps from Vinnies. I was so famished by the time they came by. I brought the jokes & puns my mother sent me & amused nurse Karen. She made copies to give to some of the patients. It’s nice to laugh with others while in treatment. I came home & called my friend from Buffalo “ODY” to wish him a happy birthday. After that I got all decked out & drove over to pick up Lizette at her house. We went to Mortons steak house. I ordered a soda with a splash of amaretto & Lizette had a glass of wine. We met Dr. K. who is a chiropractor in Boca Raton. We discussed Wellness and I told him that I would call him. It would be great to switch careers & work with him in his Wellness center. I would love to help others with their illness. After Mortons, we walked over to Brio & sat outside at the bar. I ordered a chopped salad & pineapple juice. Lizette had the lobster bisque & cranberry juice. We sat

and talked to a nice man named Steve. He travels & works as a referee. He is also into wellness & exercise. It was a lovely evening to sit outside & chat. I really enjoyed the night out with my dear friend.

6/14/12 Thursday.

I woke up & took Sierra to Tom Sawyers for breakfast. We had eggs, juice & croissant French toast. The restaurant looks like an old fashioned log cabin. Afterwards we got our nails done. I always feel great after a manicure. Then I went to Sierra’s orthodontist appointment. She only has one wisdom tooth & doesn’t need new retainers yet. I went home then had my shot of neulastin at 3:30. They did reduce the amount of neulastin in my shot to reduce bone pain. Let’s see how that works. I went home, had a green salad & relaxed. I spoke with Farzana from BOA. She took an associate business banker position. She said that it is less stressful & she likes it better. I also spoke with Joy. She is leaving with Grace to Orlando for 1 week. She really needs a vacation. I’m also looking forward to the Caribbean cruise. I just hope my Red blood cell count doesn’t go any lower. It’s at a 3.1. The hemoglobin is at 9.5. I spoke to a lady whose hemoglobin is at 8.0. They are wanting to give her a blood transfusion. She only has 2 treatments left like me. Let’s pray the blood cell counts don’t go any lower. Keep your fingers crossed!!

6/15/12 Friday

Was too weak to get out of bed. I spiked a 102° degree fever. I managed to drag myself into the shower for 30 minutes. Well, that didn’t help. I finally told Paul, so he called the pharmacy and ordered a strong antibiotic, Cipro. I really was holding back, because tomorrow we leave for our 8 day cruise. I said a prayer to God to decrease my temp with a heart filled with faith & gratitude. Miraculously, my temp went down within the next 2 hrs. Whew! Don’t want or need an infection now!

Sat 6/16/12

I woke up feeling much better. I cleaned up the house a bit, and Carlo came at 10:30 to drive us to Port Everglades to go on the Carnival Freedom. We dropped Ponchita off at Leonards & drove to the Port. I ate a lunch of all vegetables & salad. I don’t intend on eating too much on this cruise. About 8:15 pm we had our first dinner at our reserved table #570 at “The Posh restaurant.” I had a nice Talapia Fish. It was delicious. I was still aching a bit. So we relaxed at night

6/17/12 Sunday

Paul & I went to the breakfast buffet (Western omelets with veggies). I drank 2 cups of green tea. No sweeteners or splenda. We attended a seminar at the fitness center on BMI & weight loss. Our instructor told us that it takes 6 mos to remove the splenda from our bodies. Over time toxins build up in our bodies, & the liver can’t work hard enough to flush out the toxins. The environment, pollutants, harmful hormones in the food we eat, stress, aluminum in the deodorant, & chemicals builds our toxcicity levels. Also once our bodies drop to an acidic state, such diseases as cancer, diabetes and heart problems occur. He told us about a blue green algae which has a ph of 9 which would alkalanize our blood. It’s hard for a disease to thrive when the body is basic instead of acidic. I feel that I may be able to neutralize my body by eating healthfully especially more organically grown fruits & veggies. After our seminar, we went to a murder mystery whodunnit. It was pretty funny. We relaxed walked around the shop, had bouillabaisse for lunch. It was formal night. We all got dressed up. We had Greek salad, shrimp & lobster tails. Paul & I danced around the tables to “That’s Amore” The girls took a photo of us dancing. I was able to restrain myself for dessert & have a little bit of cherries jubilee. Afterwards, we attended a great comedy show. After the comedy show, I went up to the outside deck with Alexis and Sierra to watch “The Miami Heat” beat Oakland on the huge outdoor screen. Every time the Dolphins scored, a big foghorn would sound off. It was

the most exciting game I’ve ever seen. Go Dolphins Go!!!

Monday 6/18/12

We had a nice leisurely breakfast at Posh downstairs. We had waffles (I know that it’s a no-no) & fruits & eggs The girls came down with us & we walked around the island “Turks.” The town was old & the people were quite friendly. The main export at Turks is sea salt. I bought a souvenir necklace & a Turks photo album book. I was a little tired walking around, so we took a taxi back to the boat. The girls went back to go swimming at the pool. At the ship, we sat out in the lounge chairs & I went in the jacuzzi for about 30 minutes. The hot water amazingly reduced the amount of soreness in my legs. The jacuzzi is very therapeutic. After that we played a slot machine at the casino. Before dinner, Paul & I danced in the lounge. We went to see the comedian John McDonald. He was ok. After dinner, we listened to some oldies, soul music & the Supremes. Alexis & Sierra were talking to some boys they met from North & South Carolina. It was a great Monday. Feeling stronger every day.

Tues 6/19/12

Paul & I had a nice breakfast at the buffet. We had an omelete, scrambled eggs, cereal etc. We met the girls upstairs, then took a tour bus to San Juan’s rainforest, El Yunkie. The bus ride was about 1½ hours. We walked many different paths in the rainforest. Thankfully, it was pretty cool in the rainforest, and I was able to walk a bit without getting too fatigued. Puerto Rico is a beautiful commonwealth. Everyone speaks English & Spanish. If it becomes a state, everyone will speak Spanglish. After we got off the bus, we found a restaurant that served nachos with plantains & chicken quesadilla. Alexis & Sierra went back to the ship, so Paul & I walked around for a while. He bought me an orange ring and bracelet, and one for Donna & Tracy at the office. That evening, just the girls & I ate at Posh restaurant. Paul stayed in bed. I had a nice

salad & ate a little of my New York strip steak. I ate a little cake & ice cream. I’m really trying to watch my sugar intake. I went back to the room, and watched the Miami Heat game. They won of course!!

Wed 6/20/12

All four of us had a breakfast buffet. I had eggs, bran cereal & fruits. I’ve been eating a lot of fruits on this cruise. It helps me keep regular. After that we went to St. Maarten, and rented the car for the day. The GPS, had a male voice which was not very accurate. It was funny at first, then quite annoying. We finally found our way to Orient Beach. It was beautiful. We had banana coladas, & mango coladas. Alexis had her first drink with Mom. On the island, the drinking age is 18. Overall, it was a lot of driving, but the scenery was beautiful, and we were in an air conditioned car. Before dinner, I went to the fitness center, and went into the steam room and sauna. The Eucalyptus in the steam room really opened up my sinus ages, and it also took away my chills. We then went back to the room and got ready for 8:15 dinner.

Thurs 6/21/12

I need to get reacquainted with the concept of time. There is so much power with living in the now. The mind is not affected with events of tomorrow, next week or next month. If we can learn to live within the moment, we have less stress & more mental peace of mind. I had another 102° fever. I took the antibiotic, cipro and relaxed. We decided to take a taxi to Morning Star beach. The water was beautiful and the air fresh. We stayed there till 3:00, then went back on the boat. Maybe all this activity has me running a fever. We had a dinner at the buffet with the girls. I watched the Miami Heat finals on the huge panoramic screen on the deck. I laid down on the reclining chairs, in between Alexis & Sierra. The game was intense. Everyone was screaming & shouting whenever they scored. The loud ships horn would also go off whenever a player scored. The game was over

by midnight. I said goodbye to the girls & all their friends. They are quite popular girls on Carnival cruise ship.

Fri 6/22/12

I’m feeling much better today. The cipro seems to be working well. We had in active fun filled day at sea. We attended a seminar on a flatter stomach. I already eliminated splenda & a lot of sugar from my diet. I also eliminated deodorant with aluminum. It’s incredible how toxic our bodies are. Stress & the environment contribute to more of an acidic state of the body. I feel so much better by eating salads & veggies every day. I want to start purchasing organic salads & chicken for every day meals. Eating healthier will make me feel much better. We attended our 3:00 afternoon tea, Beatles trivia & bean bug toss competition. We gathered with the girls for our 8:15 dining. I had cold peach soup, broccoli soup & sea bass. I was stuffed. Afterwards we attended 2 comedy shows & then went to the 70’s disco. Great Day!!

SAT/6/23/12

Paul & I had a great breakfast of cantaloupe & bran cereal. This is our very last day at sea. I just love being on the ocean. It is so vast & beautiful. We just love to cruise. We went to deck #5 to attend a seminar on Chinese herbal medicine & pain management. It was a seminar that discussed toxins in the body, and eating organic healthy meals. That evening we had our last dinner at the Posh restaurant. We also attended a comedy show, before & after dinner. We came back to the cabin after the show. It was a great day.

SUN 6/24

We woke up & got off the ship at 8:30 am. It was pouring rain outside. Carlo picked as up at the port & took us home. I unpacked immediately then rested up.

Monday 6/25/12

It was nice to be home. I took a ride to the casino in Coconut Creek (didn’t do too well) then went to Target to buy my salads, veggies healthy foods & omelete maker. A nice man named Steve, stopped me in the aisle, and asked me if he should buy mayonaise with virgin olive oil. I told him to read the label and make sure that the fat content wasn’t too high. I know that mayonaise isn’t good for the body. He told me that he sells health insurance & disability. He said that with a “healthy person like me”, my insurance would be only $250/month. I didn’t want to tell him about my situation, and I know that was God’s way of telling me that I’m already healthy. God is confirming my health through other people (angels). I know this because, when I was at Walmart, another gentleman came up to me and asked me what foods should he eat. I must look like the epitome of total health to others. It’s God’s secret way of telling me that I am healthy. The rest of the day was pretty good as well.

Tues 6/26/12

I woke up & went to my 11:00 am appointment with Dr. O. He scheduled my breast reconstruction for Wed Sept 12th. He will not be able to put the nipples on until everything settles. Probably 4-6 weeks later. We talked about our cruises, religion food etc. I always enjoy my visits with Dr. O & Dorothy. They are very funny. We always end up laughing over funny stuff. He inflated my breasts to 350 c/c’s. He said I’ll be a size D at about 400-450 c/c’s. I told him that I didn’t want to look big & clumsy. He said I would be able to handle the size with my 5'10” frame. I went home had an organic salad with uncooked broccoli,

cauliflower & carrots. I went met with nurse Priscilla. She showed me my blood count. I came up since last time on my white blood cells, platelets & red blood cells. I contribute this to my very healthy diet. I will slip in a piece of chocolate now & then. I do know that dark chocolate has more antioxidants. After the appointment, I came home & took Sierra to see the Adam Sandler movie, “That’s my boy” We enjoyed the comedy & laughed a lot. I’m thinking about integrating laughter therapy with my hypnosis therapy that I wish to help other with. Laughter is certainly the best medicine. It relaxes oneself & releases good endorphins. I’m also having a love affair with my dear Lord. As I applied my Latisse I said God, do some work & make these lashes long & think. I can barely see my lashes, even with the Latisse. I’ll let you know what happens by next week!! God is my one true Love. I feel closer to him than ever before. I have complete love for my SAVIOR.

Wed 6/27/12

I got up and went to Lynn Cancer Institute at 10:00 am. This is my treatment # 7. Just one more to go! I met a nice guy named Grant. He said that he suffers from a rare form of stomach cancer. He said that he will have chemotherapy for the rest of his life. He told me to read the book “Healing Cancer from the Inside Out” I sent him a text & told him that I would be praying for him, and through faith and trust in God, miracles do happen. Sierra came over at lunchtime & brought me a delicious spinach salad with cranberries & raisins. She came and sat with me for a while. The five hours, from 10:00 am-3:00 pm went by quickly. I’m always happy to get out of there. That evening, I went to Lizette’s house, chatted with her, then went to Whole Foods. I’m starting to purchase more organic foods. The organic milk is great! It was another great day. While in the grocery store, we laughed and flirted with the guy near the flower selection. We then bought ourselves red roses & huge red flowers. Hey, we deserve flowers!

Thurs 6/28/12

I went with Alexis in the morning for her modeling casting for Conair in Miami. I stayed in the car. I’m sure she didn’t want Mom hanging around her. We had breakfast with cafe conleche. I barely drink coffee anymore because it dehydrates me. I’ve increased my water consumption & feel great. We then made our way to the dreaded DMV. I transferred plates to Alexis’s name. Less liability for me. After that escape, we just made it back in time for my shot of neulasta. I would say, I only gained a pound from the cruise We always warm up my shot of neulasta, (which builds my white blood cells) so it doesn’t go in cold in my arm. That evening I went to visit my friend Lizette & we went to the beach. We brought our Barbie dolls, laughed talked & acted like young teenagers. I came back home around 11:00 pm. My husband, Paul had no clue I went for a ride. He was sound asleep!

Fri 6/29/12

My friend Joy (and a joy she is) came over & picked me up. We walked the mall & looked at extremely expensive, gucci, chanel & fendi handbags. I found a shimmering pink fendi bag that I loved, but not enough to pay $1,475. I’m conserving money. Still out on disability. We ate lunch at our favorite place “The Grand Lux”. My salmon wasn’t fully cooked, but everything else was great, especially the asparagus & salad. We had a great afternoon. That evening Paul took me to Catfish Deweys for grilled sea scallops, collard greens & salad. I believe I’m heading towards a vegan diet. The food leaves you feeling fine & not too full.

SAT 6/30/12

I woke up, walked for an hour in the heat with Paul, for then I participated in an 11:00 am weight class. At this point, exercise will do more good than harm. I’m building up my endurance & muscle tissue. We went to see a movie, “Looking for a friend for The End of the World.” It was an apocalyptic movie with Steve

Carroll. I thought it would be funny, but it was a romantic movie. I liked it. I slept well that night. Love my Sound machine. I put it on the rainforest mode.

Sun 7/1/2012.

These days are just flying by. I did my healthy shopping at Target. I’m buying V8 juice, lemons for water, cran-grape juice, carrot & orange juice mixed together. I can drink the carrot juice as long as it is mixed along with something else. I made salmon, mashed potatoes (with the skins on) & organic salad with my homemade Italian dressing. The salad has extra virgin olive oil & red wine vinegar mixed within. What a great dinner. I ordered my book, “Healing Cancer from the Inside out. It deals with clearing emotional issues first. Paul & I took a nice walk on the beach around 10:00 pm. The ocean waves were beautiful & so was the night.

7/2/12 Monday

I woke up in such a great mood. It could be that I have only one treatment left. I visit God every morning in my rainforest and his smile illuminates me from within. My strength attitude & endurance has been incredible throughout this journey. God has been walking right alongside of me this entire journey. I went to the beach with my friend Lizette. I couldn’t believe how many people were present on a Monday afternoon. The water was like bathwater. I went swimming in the water, but didn’t submerge my wig. I don’t know how well the wig will hold up in the saltwater. If I hadn’t been off, going through this I wouldn’t have experienced such fine moments at the beach. In the evening, I took my first spin class in 5 mos.!! I did it. At one point, I wanted to tear my wig off & leave it on the handle bars of my spin bike. The wig is very hot at times. I usually, take it off when at home. It is so nice & cool to go bald in the middle of the summer!! We ate chopped salads & soup with egg & spinach for dinner. No hunger pains with my plant diet.

Tues 7/3/12

I had a great relaxing morning and met with Dr. Louis K in Boca. He is a chiropractor. We discussed different healing modules & spinal decompression. He is looking for a PR person to promote his 2 wellness center one in Boca Raton & one in West Palm Beach. I told him that I was taking a class in hypnosis & would like to work one on one with patients. After the meeting, I came home & drove to Ft. Lauderdale. I had a meeting with Dr. Nida M and JB M, & Valentina. They gave me info to put on the website for the Wellness center. Having cancer, sent me into a new direction of wellness, rather than finance. I believe, that sometimes God has to hit us on the head in order for us to take notice of what direction our lives will turn. That evening I took Alexis, Sierra & Michael (Alexis’s new boyfriend) to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner. I had a very healthy plate of broccoli, salad & some steak. I try to cut steak out of my diet because I think it’s harder for the stomach to digest, & not healthy. I researched the 2 drugs I may be taking for the next 5 yrs. Tamoxifan—which prevents bone loss but quadruples the chance of uterine cancer & Arimidex— which can cause bone loss & osteoporosis. I’m going to make sure I get a bone density test. That way I can see what the next step is. Of course, I take my Vitamin D-3 & calcium every day.

Happy 4th of July. I called & sent texts to friends & family to wish them a happy 4th of July. Feeling strong & healthy every day. I took it easy in the afternoon, then went to Pompano Beach to watch a beautiful fireworks ceremony. I was amazed at all the various colors & bright sparks. It was like a disney show. Afterwards, we had a nice chicken & corn on the cob dinner. It was great. Very nice 4th of July.

Thurs July 5th 2012

Stuck all morning with the tv cable guy. Strange how everyone leaves when you have to stay. I received a call from my old mgr. She said that Marilyn’s husband died from cancer. It was lung cancer, & he was only diagnosed a month ago. Every day is a gift & a blessing. I had a nice lunch with my friend, Joy. She is such a joy to have a nice lunch with. Yes, of course, I had a nice strawberry salad. A salad is all I ever order when I go out. I never feel heavy & I always feel healthy when eating a salad. That afternoon, I took Alexis & Sierra to the gynecologist. He’s the Doctor who discovered my lumps, and probably saved my life. I always look at him with such complete respect & awe. The girl’s primary concern was all the weight gain from going on the birth control pills. He put them on a lower dose of Lo Eestren which would cut the weight gain in half. The only reason they take the pill is too reduce heavy periods. Appointment was a success. Afterwards, we went to see the movie, “Magic Mike” It was great. Matthew McConeghy was a sexy, fit male dancer. The shows were great. I had fun watching the different dance moves.

Fri July 6-2012

I got up & went to my introduction to Hypnosis Class. Our teacher, Janice E is incredibly nice. She has a very hypnotic voice I’m so excited about taking this class. We learned how to induce a trance, and how to bring a person in & out of a hypnotic state. The class is very small with just 5 of us. I intend on using these techniques that I’ve learned to help people with addictions, weight loss emotional issues and various habits they wish to kick. I came home at 6:00 pm, Paul got into an angry shouting match with Sierra. Unbelievable, this disrupted my tranquility and sense of well being. I felt helpless as my daughter left the house with her clothes to stay at her girlfriend’s house. Didn’t sleep that night.

I went back to class again early in the morning. I really look forward to taking my class in hypnosis. It totally relaxes me. Stayed in Sat night, because I was so exhausted from the drama of Friday night

Sunday 7/8/12

Had another great day in my class. Paul came to take me to lunch at the Boca Bridge hotel. Guess what I had? Right, another salad, yes, but it was a Cobb salad with eggs and in variety of vegetables. That evening I had another salad for dinner. I do add chicken on meat for protein with my meals. I had class all day. It’s been blazing hot these last few days. I’m looking forward to next week, with my last chemo treatment, and the removal of my port. Hooray! Sierra has been staying with her friend. We set new rules for cleaning the house. Feeling uncomfortable with her being gone. What a weekend. Prayers & meditation are exactly what I need.

Monday 7/9/12

Last day of hypnosis class. I really enjoyed going in & out of trance. It’s totally relaxing. We had 5 people in the class & practiced on each other. I was able to regress one of my classmates back to his past, imagine his feelings of abandonment, place it in a fiery ball above his head & toss it away forever. I really enjoy doing this. I evoked emotion from him, and I could clearly see that it worked. I can’t wait to get started on my 40 practice hrs. That night we had a birthday party for Donna, the of the Paul’s medical office. Everyone was fascinated with my hypnosis class.

Tues 7/10

I had appointment with my oncologist Dr Jane S. I mentioned to her that my mom had osteoporosis, so she decided to put me on Tamoxifan for 2 years. Tamoxifan prevents bone loss, unlike arimidex, but quadruples the risk of uterine cancer. I mentioned a bone density test, so it was ordered. I also have an appointment with the radiologist even though I do not wish to undergo radiation. I’m so excited that tomorrow is my last chemotherapy treatment. I just can’t wait. I feel like I have this whole thing under control. It was only a bump in the road. That night we went to Paul’s Dad’s 100th B-Day party. George Preste just turned 100. I can’t imagine living that many years. We had a chicken & spaghetti dinner with tiramisu birthday cake. It was a nice celebration.

WED 7/11/12

Couldn’t sleep most of the night! I must be so excited about my last treatment of taxol. I was about 15 minutes late. It just took me so long to get going. Treatment was from 11-3:30. The time goes by quickly. I sat next to Jerry. She has a brain tumor, & will be undergoing chemo for quite a while. She suffers from memory loss, but has a great attitude. She is in great shape, & was once a personal trainer. It really doesn’t matter how healthy you are, however cancer does not discriminate. It randomly choose its victims. It makes you really understand how precious life is. When you know that your life could be in jeopardy, it propels you into a different mode of thinking. Each day is so important & more meaningful. You just take note of each thing that happens throughout the day, & really savor time, people places & things. Each event is a monumental. I walked out of chemo with a beaming smile on my face, feeling victorious. Life is good. That night I had a nice little celebration on the ocean at JB’s. I had close friends attend and both daughters were there to share in my happiness. I had a few drinks, & was feeling like I was in ecstasy. We stayed until about 11:00 pm. It was a beautiful night.

Thurs 7/12/12

Couldn’t eat anything after midnight, because my chemo port is about to come out! I can withstand that for port removal. We didn’t waste any time in removing that device. It was a breeze. We made it back to Boca for my neulasta shot. I had the nurse give me half a shot, because the neulasta usually gives me bone pain. I’m going to miss those wonderful nurses. We’ve become friends over the last 4 mos. That night we attended a dinner in Fort Lauderdale at the W for United Health Care!

7/10/12 Friday

Had a meeting at 11:00 am with Brad to discuss the website for our multimodality wellness center. My cancer has propelled me in a new direction, and that is “wellness”. I want to use my skills as a hypnotist to help people with their anxiety & habits. If they are sick, I want to reduce the fears in the subconscious mind & totally eradicate them. I have a vision on really moving with this wellness program. That afternoon at 4:00 pm we met with a Chinese herbalist & acupuncturist in Ft. Lauderdale. He uses energy healing & acupuncture for people with disease, fears & addictions. He had a healing session with me. He transferred his healing energy onto me & it was very pleasant. I had pain in my right arm after the port removal & the left hip was in pain. After working with me & cleaning my energy channels, I felt 100% better. Usually, the Friday after chemo is my worst day. I suffer from bone pain, but this time the pain was minimal. I contribute this to the power of the mind & energy healing.

7/14/12 Sat

Feeling good today. The neuropathy in my feet is not too bad & the cramps in

my legs are subsiding. I took Alexis & Sierra to the Cheesecake factory. That evening we went to Uncle Tai’s with Bob and Donna. We talked about the time spent in Lake Tahoe& the vacation to Nice & Monte Carlo that we are taking at the end of August. I’ve been to Paris , but not to Monte Carlo.

7/15/12

I stated packing for our vacation to Niagara Falls, NY. My younger brother, Daniel, is finally tying the knot. I’m uncertain whether I should start with the antioxidants. I’d better wait a few weeks until this chemo is out of my system. I’m just thrilled with the fact that I don’t have to go back for another chemo treatment. I’m working on building up my muscle strength & endurance. I will continue on with my baking soda & water, & I will purchase the Essiac tea online. I do not want a recurrence. I’m 99% sure that I’m not doing radiation. It only lowers my recurrence by 2-3 pts, and I just want to focus on wellness & increasing my energy levels.

Mon 7/16/12

We took the red eye flight on Spirit from Ft. Laud to Niagara Falls. Spirit now has an airport in Niagara Falls This is convenient for us. We got a rental & drove down to my parent’s house at 3:30 am. They woke up and greeted us. I was so excited to be home. We took it easy that day & took a long walk on the farm & down the orchard to the forest. We had a beautiful view of Lake Ontario. I picked a fresh peach off the tree & ate it. It feels good to be home.

Tues 7/17/12

We got my mom in the car & took her to Niagara Falls. We walked around by the Falls. It was a very hot day, so the mist felt great on my face. That evening we made a fresh salad with all the vegetables from the garden & a delicious eggplant with zucchini. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

7/18/12

It’s Sierra birthday today. I keep feeling better & better every day. No sign of a fever from this chemo. I did remarkably well with keeping my immune system strong. We took Alexis & Sierra to 6 flags, Darien Lake. I rode the boomerang roller coaster with Alexis & Sierra. I whipped off my wig & stuck it under my leg so it wouldn’t fly off. The ride goes upside down. I didn’t want to lose my hair, because I need it for the wedding. I just can’t picture myself as a bald bridesmaid. The other roller coaster I rode was the Ride of Steel. This ride didn’t flip upside down, so I just held onto my hair!! Thank Godness, I still had my wig intact. All went well. We picked up some corn on the cob & marshmallows for the bon fire that evening. When we got home, Daniel, Evan & Jessica were already there. We had a nice cook out of hot dogs, hamburgers & turkey burgers. I had a turkey burger & salad. After the bonfire, we sang happy birthday to Sierra in the back room. She just turned “17.” It was another great day on the farm.

7/19/12 Thurs

We took a walk in the morning. It was cool & breezy outside. It’s so nice to walk in the country and feel one with nature. In the afternoon we drove down to Seneca Niagara to meet Joey, Evan and Tom. The hotel was so beautiful. We had a room overlooking the Falls. It was so breathtaking! I played the slots a little with my brother Joey, who is a psychiatrist in Virginia. In the evening, we went to the pool & jacuzzi, then walked from the American side to the Canadian side. We had a blast at the top of Clifton Hill singing Karaoke. Alexis, Sierra, Evan,

Joey & I chose songs & sang on stage. Paul & Tom watched and laughed as we sang off key to the different songs that we chose. It was 9:00 pm, it started to rain, so we headed back to the American side of the Falls. On our way back we stopped off for custard twists & watched the amazing light show over the Falls. I was exhausted from the walk & went straight to bed. There were more spectacular fireworks to watch over the Falls from the hotel room.

Fri 7/20/11

Woke up, got breakfast from Tim Hortons and went with Joey to the Maid of the Mist. My legs were so tired from all the walking. I’m still experiencing the tingling sensations in the feet and toes. I’m just so thrilled that chemo is over. The boat took us over to the cascading falls. We were soaked with the mist from the Falls. We were given blue plastic cover up for the body to avoid getting totally drenched. It’s been years since I’ve been on the maid of the mist, and it was so nostalgic. After that we drove over to St. Brendan’s church, formerly St. Charles for Daniel & Jessica’s wedding rehearsal. After that, we went to the Wilson house for dinner. I saw Aunt Fidelis, Uncle, Bill, Aunt Elaine, Uncle Fred, and other people from Jessica’s side of the family. The Polish priest sat at our table. He was telling us how nice Krakow Poland is. That night we went back to the hotel to sleep. Daniel’s big wedding Day on Saturday. Joey & I gambled a little, but I just couldn’t endure the smoky casino. I need to watch my health carefully.

We woke up. I had breakfast with Joey at the restaurant & brought food up for Paul & the girls. I played a few slots, no success. We then headed for Appleton to get ready for the wedding. Paul dropped Mom, Alexis Sierra & I off to Steve S’s house, so we could get ready for the wedding. Mom looked so beautiful in her lavender dress. Jessica looked beautiful in her wedding gown. The house is

located directly on Lake Ontario. The view is just spectacular & promotes peace & tranquility. The limo came for us & we went to the church for the wedding ceremony. It was such a memorable wedding. The party, that followed was at the Tuscarora Club. It was fun to dance with my family. What a great wedding.

We all ate a great lunch at Aunt Elaine & Uncle Fred’s. They have a nice log cabin in the middle of the country. That night, we took the red eye at 2:30 am, back to Ford Lauderdale.

We just unpacked & took it easy after the flight. Great to be back. Miss the cool upstate New York weather.

Took a nice walk on the beach with my friend, Joy. I waded in the ocean. It was so refreshing. Thinking positive thoughts & reducing stress levels.

I went to the heart doctor. He said that my heart didn’t suffer any damage from the chemo. Whew Hoo! Another victory in this battle He noticed that my blood cell count was so low. He advised me to up my intake of iron. I do feel light headed and still a little weak after the chemo. I want to be better & stronger than before. I had a meeting afterwards with Pam. She’s a fellow Piscean, like me. She has a skincare & facial rejuvenation business. I may add that on to my wellness business. I had another meeting at 5:00 to organize our wellness business. I have a Chinese acupuncturist, anesthesiologist who performs facial rejuvenation & a lady from Russia who does bio , aura balancing & laser therapy. My long time friend, Scott, acted as a ist to critique our business ideas. Advertising & marketing are very important components in the success of the business. We need to accentuate what makes our center stand out from the rest. We want to create a fountain of Youth and beauty, along with alleviating pain & stress. So many ideas coming together. Can’t wait to get the show on the road. I drove back to Boca Raton and ed my friends Joy & Janeen for a nice healthy salad at Houstons. I feel so much better on the plant based vegan diet. It’s just so much healthier!

I had a morning appointment for a little botox on the forehead. I really don’t look any different, but my eyes do look a little bigger, & the tired look is gone. Sheri has a wellness center. I’m just connecting with so many people in wellness lately. In the afternoon, I took my daughter for Senior photos. Thank goodness for the GPS. It’s my life saver. Afterwards I took my daughter for cuban food. I didn’t follow my plant diet, but only ate half & took the rest home. I’m so proud of myself. Total dietary cheat day. I went to Fort Lauderdale with Paul to meet friends, Bob and Donna. They were swimming in their pool overlooking the intercoastal. We had lamb chops chicken & a healthy salad. Donna and I ate all the portabella mushrooms before dinner. It was our guilty pleasure, along with the Napoleans.

It’s Friday? I really can’t keep track of the days of the week anymore. These past five months have been so surreal. It feels like five days. Time seems to be going by faster than ever. I managed to see an acupuncturist in Ft. Lauderdale. He advised me to stop with regular milk and switch to almond milk. He also told me to stay away from meats. He said, they are proven to cause cancer. I know that many of these animals are injected. I just don’t feel healthy after eating meat. The acupuncture helped quite a lot and the infrared lights on my feet & legs helped with my neuropathy. I hope that I don’t suffer permanent numbness in my feet from the taxol chemotherapy. My feet and fingertips are still tingling. I’m keeping up with the L-Glutamine to help with this. That evening, had a great spinach salad with Paul Bob and Donna at Cafe de Paris. We listened to a great piano player “Patrician.” Music always puts me in a very upbeat mood.

In the afternoon Paul & I met Sheri who has a wellness center in Boca It was pretty and tranquil. She’s looking for a medical Director who can oversee the center. New rules & regs. Someone (Doctor) must oversee in order to perform Botox & other procedures. Had a nice evening watching the movie, The Dark Knight.

7/29/12 Sunday

I met my friend, Wendy for brunch. I ate a healthy yogurt & granola breakfast with fruit. Wendy is a breast cancer survivor. We feel a special bond and feel that we have so much in common. She had several lumpectomies before they finally removed her breast. She didn’t have radiation or chemo, because it didn’t travel outside the breast. She gave me the book “Why I wore lipstick to my mastectomy” to read. The book is humorous and puts a different spin on having

breast cancer. I always got dressed up and wore lipstick to the surgeries and chemo treatments. I feel that if you look good you feel good. It really helped me get through all of this. That evening, Paul and I went to church. We sat outside at the SunTides hotel and shared a veggie burger. The breeze coming from the ocean was simply spectacular, and relaxing. Afterwards we were still a bit hungry, so we went for Ribs & BBQ sandwich at another place. Sometimes it’s just plain difficult to restrict. I believe the half glass of wine stimulated my appetite. My system is not used to alcohol anymore. Alcohol is not recommended when you have breast cancer. It was a lovely Sunday night.

Monday 7/30/12

I ran errands during the day, and worked on home improvements. That evening, Pinky & I went to a new restaurant in town, named “Stephan’s.” It was a very nice French restaurant. We ate healthy salads. I had a delicious salad with shared tuna and creamy spinach. We talked about our new ideas for a wellness business. Pinky (real name) is a psychotherapist. She has that beautiful accent from South Africa, and an Indian background. She’s in her early 30’s and very wise for her age. I really enjoy her positive attitude. In November 2011, she had a serious car accident. The Doctor’s told her family that she had a 50% chance of survival. Her will to live was strong, and she made it through with many facial reconstructive surgeries and leg surgeries. She walks well with a mental plate in her femur, and looks as beautiful as before the accident. Our paths were meant to cross, because of the trauma that we have endured. She brought me a beautiful turquoise bracelet from S. Africa. I will cherish it forever.

Tues 7/31/12

I can finally go to the dentist now. I wasn’t able to go because of the chemo. I need a root canal & crown in my upper right tooth. I received a call today from Paula. She’s a breast cancer survivor (15yrs ago) who has become a breast

cancer life coach. She gives speeches & does teleconferences on breast cancer. I hope to work with her in the future and help other breast cancer patients. In the afternoon, I met my friend Donna at Plato’s closet. We bought some items, then went bowling at Strikes. We were laughing and giggling with the couple next to us, especially when we got a gutter ball. I was amazed that I scored a 115 in the last game. I had 3 strikes in a row in my last game. Practice makes perfect. One more clothing store after bowling, then home. We had great fun for a Tuesday night.

Wed 8/1/12

We met with the radiologist Dr. B in Boca. She was able to get my 10 page pathology report from the hospital. Based on my age, fact that I had at least one lymph node positive, and the grade 3 tumor signified I need radiation. I went in there with a mind-set that I was finished with treatment. When she gave me the news, I just lost it. This was the first time in 5 mos, since diagnosis, that I finally wailed & really let it out. My husband Paul, was very ive. He practically got into the chair next to me and consoled me, and kept on handing me tissues. The Dr. left the room for a bit. I was probably too emotional for anyone to handle. What does one do with one hysterical woman in an office? The flood gates opened wide that day I believe that I needed catharsis (a good cry) in order to face the realization that I needed 5½ weeks of radiation. I asked the Doctor straight on as to what she would do, and she replied “even if I had a 1 lymph node I would do it. I thought the rule of thumb was 4 lymph nodes then radiation. Later I googled cancer.org. and in premenopausal women, like myself, if one lymph node is involved then radiation is recommended. Wow! I could have stray cancer cells in my body now. I cried to my husband. I don’t want to die!! He tried to console me. The cancer wouldn’t come back on the breast, but maybe the chest wall collar bone, etc. Well, if my recurrence rate is lower, then it’s worth it. I was also concerned about how my breast would look during this reconstruction. I don’t want to be vain. I just want to be alive. So what if the left breast gets hard, and is raised higher than the right one. Does it really matter? I’m still fighting for my life. What a journey I have embarked on. It’s been great so far. God has given me so many beautiful gifts, and these are more to come. That afternoon my friend Donna took me shopping. My husband wanted me to

remain at home. I just wanted to get out of the house. I met Donna at her house and we took her Bentley. We started at a trunk show in some 100° hot as hell warehouse. This set me off, because I was in no mood to shop. We then went to Bal Harbor, still I was in no mood. After that we went to Hollywood, and the night just turned around. I chose a quaint little restaurant. A nice Colombian gentleman sang songs and played the guitar. I was perking up. There were only 2 other women in the restaurant so we talked with them. One lady had a bilateral mastectomy like myself, and is a breast cancer survivor. She was wearing a teeshirt that said “These are man made, breast cancer got the real ones,” something to that effect. We talked and laughed and lost track of time. God put that lady in that restaurant as a sign to go ahead with treatment and to be free of worry. Yes, I will be a survivor as well. The Lord works in mysterious ways. My tormented mind was free at last. Afterwards, we did a little more shopping, and I was ok with it. Donna felt a little guilty for dragging me shopping in this fragile state. She gave me one of her chanel watches and bought me a beautiful red dress. Thank God for friends who truly understand what you are going through.

I helped out at the medical office. I sat next to Carol and really relaxed while helping prepare charts for the electronic medical records.

Did the same thing in the office that evening, Paul took me to the Holiday Inn on the Ocean. I ate salmon and broccoli. Very healthy.

8/4/12 Sat

I went to spin class with Sierra at 10:30. Still don’t feel as strong as I used to. I’m exhausted and sweaty. I just want to whip off my wig and throw it on the handle bars. I wonder what the people in the spin class would do, I threw off my wig. Then might think I’m odd & sick. Don’t want that, so I have it on. The lining of the wig is drenched in sweat. Oh, well, hopefully, my hair will start growing. I see a little peach fizz growing. We took Donna from the office & Bernie out to dinner that afternoon. Scallop & collard greens. Very delicious at Catfish Deweys

Woke up & went to the gym for a spin class. On the way in I met a couple “Tony & Yvette” They asked me what have I been up to. I replied do you really want to know?” I told them about my battle with breast cancer. They both started crying in the gym. I tried to comfort them and tell them that everything would be alright. Cancer is not a death sentence. I’m coming out of this much stronger and with renewed faith. You can’t change destiny, but you can soul optimize your health by eating right and exercising. Overall it was an awesome day.

It’s my friend Lizette’s Birthday. Age is just a number. She said she has no idea what her age is. That’s great. We ended up spending the day at Breakers hotel and resort. We sat at the fish bar. The entire bar counter is an aquarium. It was so fascinating to watch the fish swim underneath your plate of food. One fish in particular had his eye on me. We become great friends while I was eating a piece of salmon. We met a nice attorney, Bill, who was travelling from S. Carolina representing people who are cancer victims. How appropriate for me. God really does place people and events right what you need them the most. After the delightful lunch we proceeded to an outdoor tiki bar directly on the ocean. I drank a club soda with lime, and truly enjoyed the ocean breeze and great company. My girlfriend was having a great birthday as well. I drove her jaguar back home, then went to the movies with Paul, Bob & Donna. Another great day. God is Good.

Another day with helping with charts at the medical office. That night we ate at a beautiful Greek restaurant Thasos. It was a grand opening, and the place was very a crowded. My seabass and Greek salad were delightful. The mediterranean diet is so healthy. We ordered brussel sprouts, beefs and zuccinni. The restaurant was illuminated with lights like shelves on the outside of the building. I’ve never seen anything like it. This place could be seen for miles. The multiple lights were amazing to the eyes. Another great day. God is great. Thank you Jesus for making these last five months, truly awesome. I can’t begin to convey all the wonderous miracles and people around me.

Another day with helping out at the office in between getting charts ready to be scanned, I received an email from my long-time, friend Scott. The first start went like this “The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with

drugs, but rather will Cure and Prevent disease with nutrition”—by Thomas Edison. How true is that. I do believe that one can cure and heal themselves with the proper diet and mind-set. One must eat right and remain positive at all costs. Who knows what tomorrow may bring, but we have to seize each day and live life to the fullest. Carpe diem! He also forwarded me an email from Life Extension magazine. The article said that chemotherapy can back fire and cause breast cancer growth. This article was dated Aug 9-2012. It states that cancer busting chemotherapy can cause damage to healthy cells which triggers them to secrete a protein that sustains tumor growth and resistance to further treatment. Researchers in the United States made a completely unexpected finding while seeking to explain why cancer cells are so resilient inside the human body when they are easy to kill in the lab. Peter Nelson of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle made a statement, that WNT 16B, when secreted would interact with nearby tumor cells and cause them to grow, invade, and importantly resist subsequent therapy. The researchers have confirmed their findings with breast and ovarian cancer tumors. They believe that an anti-body to WNT 16B when given with chemotherapy can kill more cancer cells, and it may be possible to use less toxic doses of chemotherapy. Isn’t this unbelievable! I just finished chemotherapy last month, and now the researchers may be coming up with a safer less toxic chemo, when given with an antibody can kill more cancer cells. Well, it is what it is. I’m not going to let this research get me down. Chemotherapy, I believe has both good and bad effects. I just want to do everything possible to reduce my recurrence rate, and increase my survival rate

Helped out at the office, and had Dr. Gary perform acupuncture on two patients. His healing energy is amazing. The husband and wife experienced results immediately. I ran home in the afternoon to get our new Dell computer installed.

Had a nice lunch with my friend. We both had a great day, and I told her that it was different for me to be around her when she is so stressed out. I’m getting away from negative people and events. I know not every day is perfect, but eliminating stress to such a degree with be beneficial to us. I went home in the afternoon and planted flowers in my garden. It’s something I hardly ever do. Very therapeutic.

Had lunch with my dear friend Elaine, daughter, Sierra and friend Cami. Cami said her grandmother had cancer, fought it and eventually died from it. I don’t like to hear these stories. That night we went to church and out to dinner. We went out with our buddies, Bob and Donna. Emilio ed us too. After dinner he asked me how work was going. I told him I wasn’t working because of cancer treatments. He then proceeded to tell me that his mom had breast cancer, was in remission for 5 years. Then it returned to all of her organs and killed her. What a day! All of these sad stories… I will be amongst the survivors. I just wanted to go home and go to bed. I crushed the ANTS (automatic negative thoughts) that slowly crept into my mind. Goodbye ANTS!

I met with my radiologist, Dr. B. We discussed radiation, and the fact that my breast will have to be deflated 150 cc’s on each side. I’m starting to feel like a spare tire. I’m like the economy, going from inflation to deflation. I was more relaxed and ready to rock and roll. Radiation will start after vacation, and I will be quite a bit flatter for my vacation on the French Riviera. Who cares… being alive is more important. Dr. B told me not to let people’s comments get into the way of my recovery. Each case is different, and I am my own individual self. We met Dr. Gary, the acupuncturist at Too Jays. He’s excited about working in the Wellness Center and has great energy. I know, because we just found out today,

that we have the same birthday, March 10th . . . Our meeting was meant to be. He said that he will focus his healing energy onto me and help me with my situation. He feels that the birth control pills that I took for 20 years contributed to my illness. Anything so unnatural can make the body unbalanced. Well, the journey still continues on, and much progress has been made. The worst part is over, and the best is yet to come. It has been a great experience in more ways than one. If we are faced with challenges, keeping a strong faith and positive attitude, will ensure that we will get to where we want to go in a much easier fashion. One must enjoy the ride and walk in faith.

Eve Preste is tall and beautiful, and looks like the model she used to be. But now she wears a pink rhinestone symbol around her neck, and talks to people about radiation and chemotherapy.

Last February, her doctor found a suspicious lump during a routine checkup. A week later, she had a mammogram and ultrasound and asked her husband to “hurry over” when the results came in. “Right then and there, I knew that I had a problem,” she said. “Sure enough, the doctor found something.”

Still in treatment, but as upbeat as anyone could be, Preste was the speaker at an American Cancer Society team leader workshop before the Oct. 27 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton.

Recovering well from a bilateral mastectomy and other surgeries in March, she formed a team called Pink Blossoms for the Walk, and has refocused her activities.

Her ebook, “My Journey through Breast Cancer,” will come out later this month. She’s now a cancer coach, a certified hypnotist and leased space where her physician husband practices for a wellness center in Fort Lauderdale.

“This situation allowed me to step back, slow down and reassess my life,” she said. “I realized my mission was to help others who live in fear. We don’t just beat breast cancer, we accept it and use ourselves as role models and systems.”

She’s grateful her gynecologist found the symptoms in time, and calls her medical team “the true heroes.”

Last year’s Making Strides in Boca had 383 teams of walkers they called Striders, and raised $353,000. Organizers hope to up the ante this year. “To me, this walk is about raising awareness and tonight is about raising money,” said Dr. Jane Skelton, a breast cancer oncologist at Boca Raton Regional Hospital and the walk chairwoman this year.
