paragraph hooks; -They link sentences and paragraphs together smoothly so that there are no abrupt jumps or breaks between ideas. Because as we know there are many types of cohesive devices, I want you to identify under what type are the transition words which I gave each of you. Types: -Adding Information and also moreover furthermore in addition -Giving Examples for example for instance specifically in particular -Showing a Contrast but however on the other hand otherwise instead in contrast - Showing a Similarity likewise similarly in the same way - Showing a Result so as a result therefore thus as a consequence -Establishing Time Relation or Sequence first second finally in conclusion in summary meanwhile Using Transition Words and Phrases: -Put a comma after these if they are at the beginning of a sentence. example: I like to travel.
